The benefits of therapy and essential oils

Bloating, fatigue, irritability, hair loss, mood swings, trouble concentrating, hot flushes, infertility... these are just a few symptoms of hormone imbalance. Let’s begin with stress; chronic stress frequently produces hormonal imbalance. Hormones play a critical role in regulating body functions, hence chronic stress can have physical consequences such as hypertension, psychical pain (making chronic pain worse), kidney damage, IBS, and suppression of the immune system, which means that our immune system doesn’t produce enough white blood cells to fight illness - making us more prone to develop viral or bacterial infections.

Cortisol is an important hormone that might become imbalanced with stress.

There are various ways and techniques to manage your stress. One of the most important tools is the relaxation which you can achieve quickly and easily by practising certain breathing techniques, self-hypnosis, and inhaling certain essential oils. For example, geranium oil has shown similar benefits to rose oil, balancing the hormones, supporting menstrual cycle regularity, and improving mood. Similarly, orange essential oil will boost your mood, decreasing the stress hormone at the same time.

Reiki healing

Reiki can balance your hormones by controlling the endocrine glands. These hormones regulate many vital physiological processes in our body.

Each chakra is responsible for a particular endocrine gland. If the universal energy is blocked in a particular chakra, then the function associated with that particular gland be also affected. The blockage of the energy in chakras causes the irregularity in the secretion of the hormones. Reiki also promotes relaxation and relieves stress and pain.

As of 2009, the touchstone process has evaluated 25 test studies that appeared in peer-review journals evaluating the merits of Reiki treatment. Taking into consideration only the most rigorously controlled studies, the team reported that 83% showed moderate to strong evidence in support of Reiki as a viable, therapeutic healing modality.

Clinical hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a natural state of mind that we enter into many times and in many ways, through meditation, imagination, guided imagery, daydreaming, and relaxation. A trance is a state of focused inner awareness; an altered state for a therapeutic endpoint. You are entering trance many times during the day, for example when you are watching a movie or TV program, reading a book, driving, or simply being absorbed in an activity.

Many people report that becoming hypnotised feels like falling asleep, with a difference of being aware of the surrounding environment and being able to hear the therapists' voice. Hypnosis is characterised by a pleasant and relaxing state of mind. When people are deeply relaxed, the brain begins to produce alfa or theta brainwaves, which enable us to establish communication with your subconscious mind.

What is the subconscious mind?

The unconscious part of the mind controls our heartbeat and blood pressure. It is fighting our infections by sending an army of blood cells to fight; hence when we have an infection, we experience a fever as the signal that your body knows there is an uninvited guest and is trying to fight it.

Our unconscious mind knows exactly when to use and fire up different functions in our body in order to keep us safe. For example, the spleen acts as a blood filter; it controls the number of red blood cells and blood storage in the body, it helps to fight infection and can hold up to a cup of reserved blood. Our unconscious mind has the ability to control pain, emotions, and hormones.

The unconscious mind is recognised as the essence of life, and the limits of its power are unknown. It never sleeps, it warns us of danger and often aids us in things that seem impossible. It also guides us in many ways.
