Our editorial process
The world of holistic therapies is vast and beautifully varied. It’s our mission to help people understand what alternative and complementary approaches exist to support them on their wellness journey. To do that, we share the following information:
- what different holistic therapies are available, and how they work
- what concerns holistic therapy can be beneficial for
- how to find a qualified holistic therapist
We share this information throughout our website, namely in our Therapies section and our Expert articles section. Some of our content can also be found in video format, audio downloads and PDFs.
How we create our content
Our editorial team is responsible for the content published on our website. The experienced team mostly focuses on the information pages on our site. They regularly collaborate with our trusted members, the holistic therapists listed on our site, who expertly review our therapy pages.
Our members themselves also write for our site, publishing articles rooted in expertise and experience. The editorial team guides this process, vetting, proofreading and offering feedback where necessary to ensure all information published is aligned and helpful to the reader.
All of the content we manage is done so through tried and tested processes to ensure we have researched topics thoroughly, catch any potential errors and have optimised them for the most potential reach online.
Our editorial standards
We pride ourselves on maintaining high editorial standards, so you can be assured that the information you see from us is accurate. These are the standards we hold for ourselves:
- to keep language easy to understand and free of jargon
- to ensure any claims made are backed up with evidence
- to regularly review and update information so it remains accurate and relevant
- to be inclusive in our terminology
As a team, we are always on the lookout for further training opportunities to continue building on the skills we have in creating and publishing information. We welcome feedback and explore every comment, taking accountability for what we share. All of this helps us to refine our message and help more people become aware of holistic therapies.
Writing and editorial style
We want those who visit our site to feel welcome and assured of our knowledge. This means taking an inviting tone in our writing, offering clear explanations and sharing uplifting ideas to show what is possible.
Inclusivity is important to us, as we appreciate the beautifully diverse society we live in. We therefore use inclusive language throughout and keep on top of preferred terms within specific communities.
Use of imagery
Imagery can help visitors of our site understand how a therapy might look, or simply, how it might make them feel. We choose our images carefully, seeking to express feelings where helpful, or how a therapy may look, where needed.
As with our language, we are inclusive with our image choices, showcasing how everyone can benefit from holistic approaches.
What’s our stance on AI?
Humans are at the very core of what we do, so it’s no surprise that we take a human-first approach when it comes to creating content. We do recognise AI’s power in supporting parts of the process, but we utilise it as a tool to help, rather than a tool to create.
