How to introduce kids to healing crystals

Crystal healing can offer a holistic, natural way to rebalance and unblock our energy, helping to support our bodies in a healing, therapeutic way. Tapping into the natural energy of the crystals and how they can affect our mind and body, crystals can be used in a number of different ways to help us on a physical, spiritual or emotional level.

Simply being near crystals, using them as part of meditation, or keeping them with us in the form of a pendant or polished stone can provide us with a multitude of benefits. It’s not just adults that can benefit from healing crystals - children can too.

Different crystals can help children feel calmer, gain a better night’s sleep, deal with emotional issues, or help them feel more grounded and present in the moment. If you would like to introduce your child to healing crystals but are unsure where to start, we have some simple tips that could help.

Have a chat

Sit down and talk with your child about crystals. By engaging them in a conversation, showing them the wide variety of options, you can start to spark an interest whilst giving them the space to ask questions and discover more at their own pace.

Visit a crystal store

Children often gravitate towards one or two crystals that interest or excite them. If they feel drawn to tumblestones, these polished, small crystals are not only easy for them to keep in their pockets or on their desk at home but are often cheap to purchase. Cut and polished crystals, such as those in wand form, can be more expensive but can work as good focuses whilst meditating.

By allowing children to explore and discover which crystals they are drawn to, this can help awaken their curiosity, potentially helping them to be more receptive to learning more about the crystals and how they may be helpful.

Introduce crystals as part of mindful meditation or yoga

More and more children are being introduced to mindfulness, meditation and yoga at home and school. Meditation can help children of all ages to quieten their minds and face emotional challenges whilst boosting their self-esteem. Yoga can act as not only a fun activity but can help children to feel less stressed and anxious, in addition to helping them improve their focus.

Introducing crystals as part of a calming pre-bedtime or homework routine can help children to feel more calm and relaxed. If they aren’t as keen on trying tumbled or polished crystals at first, try incorporating crystals as jewellery, or placing larger, decorative chunks within the space you use for meditation.

Use crystals for a better nights sleep

For children who may be afraid of the dark, have trouble sleeping alone, or experience frequent nightmares, crystals can offer a calming way to help them gain a better night’s sleep. Placing the crystal beneath their pillow, beside their bed, or incorporating them as part of a dream catcher may help.

Show them how you cleanse and charge your crystals

From time to time, crystals need to be cleansed as they can absorb negative energy. By periodically cleansing and charging your crystals, you can ensure that they are ready to be used for healing purposes. Getting children involved in this process can be a fun, simple way to keep them engaged and actively listening as you cleanse the crystals together.
