How the Bach flower remedy Gorse can help when we have lost hope

Even in the title, it will be easy to see how the flower remedy Gorse can be of such important and significant help in the treatment for depression. Because hopelessness is so much a major part of depression, and how it feels when depression can take hold of our thoughts and paints such a dark picture of how everything feels and looks through its lens.

Gorse is the flower l prescribe for all states of hopelessness. Where hope is so needed. When we might feel we have tried everything, maybe with treatments for an illness, or maybe where problems in an important relationship have never gone away or been resolved. There are so many examples in which we can find where hope feels or seems thin on the ground, and we have somehow become emotionally infected by even the terrible things that seem to be going on in the world at the moment. I, for one, have lost hope in all politics where we are lied to more and more. We can get lost in the news, we hear and see. Most especially when even the fundamentals of life go up and up, and yet what we bring in does not. Our hope can feel challenged in so many ways.

The flower remedies can lift us up in what sometimes can feel like the bleakest of circumstances, and Gorse can shine a much-needed light in what can feel like darkness and when our dreams can seem like they are broken.

Whenever I have felt as though my own hope and indeed my hopes and dreams seem impossible, l take a few drops of Gorse, and it is like a spiritual renewal that helps without fail.

The Gorse state can be dangerous because it can reinforce what is negative. And through that state of believing and state of mind, we can lose touch with our spirit to believe in a better day.

It is very helpful in treating single people who are subject to the vagaries of dating apps and internet dating, when they become jaded by the poor quality behaviour that sadly exists within this arena, when they are also maybe experiencing dating burnout. It is helpful too when learning something new proves to be more difficult than expected.

Some symptoms shown for someone in need of Gorse:

  • giving up or wanting to
  • when medical treatment doesn’t seem to be helping
  • dieting difficulties
  • loneliness both in a out of a relationship
  • complete loss of hope
  • when not coping well with disappointment
  • needing reassurance

Transformation after taking Gorse:

  • renewed feeling of hope once more
  • belief resurrected
  • stimulates our will to live and survive, too
  • restores our balance and attitude once more

Helpful combinations with other flower remedies:

  • Centuary – when our hopelessness is of the passive, quiet kind, going inward.
  • Elm – when we are overwhelmed by complete hopelessness.
  • Mustard – for depression due to hopelessness, these often go hand in hand.
  • Star of Bethlehem – for hopelessness due to trauma.
  • Sweet Chestnut – for hopelessness and despair.
  • Wild rose – utter resignation.
