Bach flower remedy Heather - loneliness

Loneliness, such an overlooked emotional state, which we normally only address collectively as a community at Christmas!

I have personally written articles about it, trying to legitimise how loneliness is far more prevalent than any of us care to admit. Even during this oh-so-connected time, when we can ostensibly be “in touch” all the time.

This isn’t connection, though, as nice as it is, connection is something entirely different and creates something called limbic resonance, which is a deep and often non-verbal emotional connection. In our limbic systems, this is the closeness that we need to feel that we belong, which is what we are wired to do and need so much, as indeed do all sentient beings.

Often, the Bach flower remedy Heather is recommended for those who find being alone difficult, which indeed it does help. However, l personally believe it has less to do with ego and more to do with what we either didn’t receive emotionally as children or also when the feeling of belonging has been lost.

There is usually insecurity behind this need to be with others all the time, and alongside that, a need to communicate that is and feels very fundamental.

It is a very healing and helpful flower remedy to use when treating co-dependency, where someone’s worth is kind of lived through and experienced through dependence.

It can also be helpful for those who suffer from feelings of inferiority.

Symptoms of those in need of Heather

  • loneliness
  • feelings of isolation
  • feelings of humiliation
  • finding it hard to be alone
  • feeling or being too wrapped up in self
  • needy children

It really helps us with listening in general and listening to others. Often also helpful for little ones and toddlers who won’t stop needing and demanding attention even when they have toys to play with, and you are trying to have a conversation while they are around, they must interrupt and grab attention all the time in a kind of relentless way.

Often, Heather people give far too much information away there is a need to overcompensate.

What Heather helps with

  • Heather instils a natural feeling of self-worth
  • lowers feelings of inferiority
  • helps with recovery from any humiliation or humiliating experience

Other Bach flower remedy combinations

  • Mimulus - fear of being alone
  • White Chestnut - worry about being alone or insignificant
  • Larch - loss of confidence due to feelings of inferiority
  • Star of Bethlehem - recovering from trauma due to humiliation

Heather has many aspects to it, taking it helps us feel more whole and less needy, it lowers our need to prove ourselves to others and gives us a stronger feeling of being “enough”, which of course we absolutely are.

Somehow, we can feel more at peace with and within ourselves. It can be a marvellous help also at Christmas time and holiday times when we do not have our loved ones near.
