How Clematis can help you realise your dreams

How can Clematis help you become more present?

Clematis is one of the Bach flowers in the five flower combination known as Rescue Remedy. One of the reasons for this is that in an acute state of emergency, fainting and losing consciousness can be something that occurs in extreme circumstances.

It is the flower used for escaping reality, day dreaming and also idealism. The term “lost in thought”, absent-mindedness and unfocused can also apply to those of us in need of this marvellous flower. A wish to escape reality and wander between the world of consciousness and reverie. It is for when our thoughts are purposely placed elsewhere as a form of escapism, because we want to escape someone or something.

You will find that those who are Clematis types are often in the trauma-triggered state of being in flight.

This may present itself in a manner of different ways, such as being overabsorbed in reading or watching endless TV, or going to the cinema as much as possible. Or flying and travelling constantly, or running – anything that takes them away from reality or being present.

Or also living in a world of make-believe or dreams. Appearing often not to be completely awake, as if there is greater foul play and involvement with what is going on in their inner world.

Clematis types are often very intelligent and often very creative people, artists and those who work in the creative world, dreamers and visionary people.

Edward Bach called the Clematis state a polite form of suicide when in the negative aspect of the Clematis state, because it is, in its extreme, a need or desire for absenting ourselves.

It is a very useful remedy when, through circumstance, we are taken from our present situation, sometimes through grief and sometimes through extreme joy, our focus is removed. It gives us a healthy relationship with reality.

Sometimes when life presents us with sobering circumstances, flight from reality and losing interest in everyday life can be entirely understandable. However, if the flight from focus and being present is getting in the way or if the scales are heavily weighing in the direction of being absent in a way that could be problematic, then Clematis is the flower for you or those you care for who are presenting in this way.

What can Clematis help with?

It brings us back to a happy reality that is manageable. It helps with sleepiness and is really good for those coming off of drugs and addiction, where we can become more comfortable with reality rather than feeling a need to run from it. It sharpens our perspectives and our instincts, also for our ability to think things through properly and to problem solve in a healthy way. It brings us into the real world in lieu of living in a fantasy world and can help us to realise our visions and creative projects into existence.

Clematis key symptoms:

  • living more in a fantasy world
  • reacting with indifference to either good or bad situations
  • needing excessive amounts of sleep
  • tendencies to feeling faint or fainting
  • poor memory
  • lack of vitality
  • feeling disoriented
  • being in the trauma states of either flight or freeze
  • depersonalisation
  • being totally unrealistic
  • tendency in relationships to long distance or limerence

Combinations with other flowers:

  • Honeysuckle - living in a daydream.
  • Star of Bethlehem - loss of consciousness due to trauma.
  • Wild rose - resignation and wishing not to be here.
