How Reiki changed my life
I had always wondered as a young child what the meaning of life was – I simply could never accept that we were just here to go to school, go to work, maybe get married, maybe have a family, retire and then die. Surely there had to be more to life than that?
I was clairvoyant as a child, as so many of us are, but quickly shut that gift down after feeling scared about what I saw. Instead, I turned up my feelings and emotions and used these to navigate the world. In other words, I was an empath.
I didn’t realise at the time but not only was I able to empathise with people, I actually took their emotions on for myself, to save them having to feel them. I didn’t understand until much later how damaging this was as, at this stage, I had not remembered how to transmute these negative emotions that weren’t mine, so they sat percolating in my body, causing a myriad of health conditions.
When I was 10 years old, I bought my first set of tarot cards. I wasn’t even sure what these were, but I knew that I needed them and that they would help me to receive the clarity that I sought. However, my mum spotted them and was cross that I had them. She told me how dangerous they were and, frankly, that scared the living daylights out of me (of course, now in hindsight, I know there is nothing to be afraid of, and I work with them regularly), and that was that for a while…
In my early teens, I started to explore energy once more and this lead me in my later teens to experience a Reiki healing. I was completely blown away, this is what my soul had been searching for all of these years; a connection back to source, a return to oneness. I immediately asked the healer where she had learned, and she gave me details of the lady who would attune me (or simply enable my energy channels to widen) to Reiki, and I have never looked back.
Reiki has changed my life, in such profound and unimaginable ways.
What is Reiki?
Reiki was gifted to Dr Usui on Mount Kurama in Japan in the early 1920s. Reiki literally translated means 'Universal Life Energy', and is used to bring the bodies (physical, emotional, mental, astral and others) back into alignment, wholeness and harmony.
Reiki can be used to heal yourself, others, animals and plants and even to energise your food and water, and this can be learned by anyone. You do not need any prior knowledge or experience to be able to give Reiki – we can all heal, and the attunements to Reiki simply make the channel to source wider, to allow more energy to flow through. It is an incredibly simple but astoundingly beautiful, effective and powerful practice.
There are three levels of Reiki and each level allows more energy to flow through you:
- Level 1 allows you to self-heal, heal friends and family, animals and plants.
- Level 2 allows you to set up a practice and heal people on a wider scale.
- Level 3 allows you to attune others to this miraculous art.
You need to dedicate yourself to this wonderful practice and should leave a sufficient amount of time between levels to allow you time to practice.
So, if it feels like something is missing in your life, unanswered and unexplained, then perhaps you should try some Reiki. You could learn it for yourself, or experience a treatment, and take it from there. Either way, I think you will find it life-changing, and will probably never look back.
I teach levels 1, 2, 3 Usui Reiki in groups or in a one-to-one setting in Petts Wood. I also teach Angelic Reiki (which has the special addition of connecting with the angels) and teach this in groups or in a one-to-one setting.
I will be holding an Angelic Reiki workshop on 18th March from 10am until 5pm at the gorgeous Avebury Stone Circle in Wiltshire (venue subject to change) and a Level 1 Reiki course in Petts Wood on 2nd February. You can register for these workshops at lovelighthealing.info or contact me for more details at Melissa@lovelighthealing.info or on 07810 543381.
