Theta Healing
Theta Healing (or ThetaHealing) is a meditation technique which taps into and alters brainwave patterns to promote healing. Thought to be a fast and effective treatment that encourages deep relaxation, Theta Healing is becoming increasingly popular. So, what exactly is it and could it be right for you?
What is Theta Healing?
Theta Healing is a complementary meditation technique that was developed by Vianna Stibal in 1995 after experiencing some illness. It is believed that when we change our thoughts and beliefs, this can influence how we feel and subsequently help us to overcome and manage challenges or illnesses.
Having a one-to-one session with a qualified practitioner is designed to help you take control of your life by relieving any negative beliefs you have that are holding you back from achieving what you want in life - whether that be in your career, health or love life.
How does Theta Healing work?
Theta Healing works by inducing a meditative state which allows a Theta Healer to access a person's subconscious. This meditation is much like a dream state before sleep and is referred to as a 'Theta brainwave'. Once in this state, a healer connects with the client's energy and is guided by their intuition and a higher power - known as 'The Creator of All That Is' - to identify potential blocks in the subconscious mind and get to the root cause of their issue. The healer is then able to command the Creator's energy to remove these limiting beliefs, habits and emotions and replace them with more helpful and empowering ones to support the person's physical, emotional and spiritual healing.
Being a complementary technique, Theta Healing is nearly always used alongside conventional approaches to support physical and mental health. If you're thinking of trying this technique, it's recommended to speak to your healthcare professional first.
What can Theta Healing help with?
Many of the challenges we face stem from our minds and how we perceive them. Therefore, Theta Healing is thought to help with a wide range of issues by changing our responses to them. Theta healing may help with emotional, physical and spiritual problems, such as:
- feeling demotivated or disconnected
- relationship problems or finding love
- overcoming fears
- grief or loss
- pain
- anxiety
- stress
- unresolved trauma
Theta Healing techniques
To uncover core negative beliefs, Theta healers typically use a range of techniques, including questioning, intuitive scans and 'muscle testing'. Muscle testing allows the practitioner to observe muscle strength in response to questions or statements that they put to their client. If statements are aligned with a subconscious belief, the muscles remain strong. If they are not, however, this may indicate a belief that needs to be addressed.
Muscle testing is usually done in one of two ways. The first technique involves holding your thumb and forefinger together, forming a circle, while your healer reads statements out loud. They will then try to identify strengths or weaknesses in the fingers to get a yes or no answer from your subconscious. Another technique involves having you extend your arm and the practitioner applying gentle pressure whilst asking these questions. Again, the practitioner is attuned to interpret your muscle responses. It's important to note that whilst this approach can offer helpful insights, it's not a replacement for medical diagnoses.
What to expect from a Theta Healing session
There is very little preparation required prior to a Theta Healing session. Ideally, you should be well-rested and wearing comfortable clothing. Sessions usually range from around 45 minutes to an hour.
During the session, you'll either be sitting or lying down. Following an initial consultation, your practitioner will enter the Theta state to access your subconscious beliefs. After identifying any thoughts that need to be addressed, your healer will ask for your permission to change your belief. Muscle testing may be used to test that the belief has been altered. Positive thoughts and feelings are then programmed into your subconscious to replace these beliefs.
How do you feel after Theta Healing?
The results can leave you feeling incredibly cleansed and relaxed, feeling like a spring clean for the mind. Some people also feel a sense of relief or 'lightness.' It is common to experience a variety of emotions as they are released from the body.
What are the benefits of Theta Healing?
There are numerous benefits to Theta Healing, the first being that it is widely accessible and can be done in-person or remotely. Theta Healing can help you live more positively and support your physical and emotional health. It can lower stress, boost mood and even help you tap into your creativity, deepen your spiritual connection and become more aware of your intuition.
How much does Theta Healing cost?
Prices will vary depending on the length of sessions, the location of the practitioner, and their experience, amongst other factors. It's best to contact a Theta Healer directly to learn more about their fees and what they cover.
How many sessions will I need?
Similarly, the number of sessions required will vary from person to person. Some people report feeling change after just one session, but others may require a few sessions to reap the full benefits. This largely depends on the complexity of your issue and what you'd like to achieve.
How do I know if Theta Healing is right for me?
Theta Healing is believed to be an effective approach to healing when used alongside other interventions. For the vast majority of people, Theta Healing works for them. However, as with other energy healing modalities, it largely depends on your belief and trust in the process.
To figure out if it's likely to work for you, we recommend reaching out to a healer to learn more about the process and whether you're likely to connect. Above all, remember that it's perfectly OK if you don't gel with it. There are many other energy healing modalities available, so take your time and you'll soon find one that works for you.
