Say goodbye to fatigue

Almost all around you, you will see people on the go; running around, rushing to the next meeting and never taking a moment to just breathe.

Add an unhealthy diet to this busy lifestyle and you have the perfect combination for fatigue. Everyone can suffer from tiredness, but chronic fatigue can lead to an increased risk of developing other medical conditions.

Below are some tips to beat fatigue and feel more energised:

Get some sleep

Many people fail to realise that lacking sleep will result in tiredness. Mixing up your natural body clock will confuse your body and in turn, affect the next night’s sleep and even the night after that. Make sure you sleep for seven to eight hours each night, waking up at the same time every day.

Follow a good diet

Your diet can play a vital role in fatigue, eating junk food and sugary snacks for a quick ‘pick me up’ will only worsen how you feel. Fill your daily meals with vegetables, beans, nuts and fresh fruit for slow-release energy.

Stay calm

Stress regularly contributes to fatigue so make sure to find time to unwind. Adult colouring books are increasing in popularity; why not try doodling on a piece of paper for a therapeutic stress relief? If at work, simply practise 10 minutes of breathing exercises.

Avoid caffeine

Ideally, try to avoid drinking coffee after 3pm, if you really struggle and want a caffeine fix; opt for green tea for a healthier alternative. However, try to avoid any form of caffeine after sunset, it can keep you up late and affect your sleeping pattern.

Keep yourself hydrated

Water is vital in energy levels; you will be surprised at how much your body is affected when dehydrated. If you don’t drink enough water, your body will slow down and concentration will start to lag. Try to keep a bottle with you at all times so you can sip it throughout the day.

Go for a walk

An evening walk on your own, with the dog or a friend will allow you to take a break, reflect on the day and perk you up.

Treat yourself

Pamper yourself once a week with a massage, facial or start using essential oils in your evening bath. You deserve this time to yourself and it really does relax you.
