How to shake that bad mood

How to shake that bad moodKeep reading for easy and natural ways to get rid of a bad mood.

Do you ever find yourself feeling grumpy for no good reason? Maybe you stubbed your toe when you first woke up, setting off a spiral of 'bad luck' - or perhaps a nasty email at work has left you feeling stressed? Whatever the cause, getting back to your usual self is key to getting out of a bad mood.

The following ideas are simple, quick and effective - so start shaking off that bad mood!

Talk to someone you trust

Venting your frustrations to someone you trust can really help you gain perspective and feel emotionally lighter. Say what's on your mind, discuss any solutions if necessary and move on. Just remember to re-pay the favour when your friend is in need of a good vent!

Spend some time with your pets

Research shows that cuddling up to our pets can lower stress levels and even lower blood pressure. If you have a dog, take them for a walk in the fresh air to help you clear your head.

Make yourself look nice

It is a simple trick, but an effective one nonetheless. If you're feeling down, dress the opposite! Put on your favourite outfit that makes you feel good and slick on some bright lipstick to give you a boost.

Meditate or do yoga

It may not be one thing in particular that's put you in a bad mood, it may simply be an accumulation of stress. If you're feeling burnt out, try some meditation or yoga to help centre yourself and lower your anxiety levels.

Exercise

Getting your heart pumping will release feel-good endorphins, so even if it is the last thing you feel like doing, try to fit some aerobic exercise in your day. All it takes is a brisk walk for 30 minutes to reduce stress and release those endorphins.

Laugh

Watch a funny film or go and see your favourite comedian - whatever it takes to get you laughing. Laughing will release more of those fantastic endorphins and will distract you from your worries.
