A beginner's guide to Pranic Healing

Pranic Healing has rapidly become very popular and is now practised worldwide. Many nurses, doctors, psychologists, and therapists use Pranic Healing to generate profound results. If you believe in the power of your body, in its ability to heal itself, Pranic Healing might be for you. This practice is rooted in the belief that when you look after the energy in your body, ensuring it stays regulated, you protect your emotional, physical, and mental well-being.

What is Pranic Healing?

Pranic Healing is a natural practice that uses prana (the body’s airs, or energies) to introduce harmony and balance. In each session, the central goal is to recharge the body’s energy field, including the aura (the energy around the body). Our aura affects how people feel when they are around us, and sometimes, our energy can negatively impact others. Pranic Healing can improve the mood you bring to a room, as well as your energetic presence. Our thoughts, emotions, and connections with others are all energetic patterns that Pranic Healing can influence or change.

What are the benefits of Pranic Healing?

Pranic Healing can empower individuals seeking to enhance their physical and mental health, relationships, friendships, work life, and spiritual abilities. It can be effective in restoring health for those struggling with migraines, chronic fatigue or pain, insomnia, digestive issues, or sports injuries. This natural healing practice addresses both minor and major physical or non-physical issues by focusing on the root of causes of issues, rather than merely dulling symptoms.

Scientific studies show that lowered energy levels make humans more prone to illnesses. Emotions such as anger, anxiety, and stress can deplete our well-being and limit energy flow. Conversely, positive emotions like gratitude, awe, empathy, and love can expand our energetic field, directly impacting our overall energy. Pranic Healing helps infuse more peace and clarity into daily life by managing these emotions.

The energy system

We all have an energy system that is made up of our aura, chakras, and meridians. All of these play a part in regulating the overall energy flow in our bodies - responsible for keeping us healthy and happy.

Aura

Every living creature has an aura: trees, animals, flowers, and, of course, humans. We can visualise an aura as an energy bubble around us. This external energy surrounding our bodies is our personalised force field.

Chakras

There are seven chakras: crown, heart, root, sacral, solar plexus, third eye, and throat. They are all located in different areas of the body, from the bottom of our feet to the tops of our heads. These chakras are responsible for distributing the energy around our bodies. When one or more are out of balance, it can disrupt the quality of our life. Each chakra is linked to different nerve bundles and internal organs.

Meridians

Meridians are pathways running through our bodies, allowing energy from the different chakras and from our aura to move around. Imagine them like roads, instead of allowing cars to travel around, they allow energy to travel around.

How to prepare for Pranic Healing

If you want to get the most out of Pranic Healing, you can go the extra mile before and after a session.

Running a bath, adding salt, and sitting for 15 minutes can help prepare your body for the new energy it’s going to absorb. The salt will allow the old and dirty energy to break down into the water. After a session, you can avoid washing your body for 12 hours; this will give it valuable time and space to continue absorbing the fresh energy and releasing the bad energy.

What to expect during a Pranic Healing session

Pranic Healing sessions usually last up to 60 minutes. First, you will talk with the Pranic Healer, they will ask you questions about your emotional, mental, or physical difficulties. They will aim to understand what has brought you to them; what you want to improve, heal, or change. This requires total honesty and vulnerability from you.

It's good to remember that healers will keep your information confidential. It's in your best interest to communicate the full truth of your situation, even if you find it embarrassing.

The session will begin with you finding a comfortable lying down, standing, or sitting position. Relaxation may be further enhanced with calming music, or you might be encouraged to take some deep breaths. The healer may request that you have your palms facing upward; this is to allow your energy field to open. They may also ask you to put the tip of your tongue on your palate/the roof of your mouth; this is to allow the energy to flow up and down your whole body.

The healer will then undertake a scan of your body to feel for the problems you communicated earlier. They will be able to notice very old energy that has been stuck in your body for months or even years. The healer will then start to address the negative energy in or around your body with their hands. They will not touch you, rather they will move their hands around your body. They will detach bad energy from your body and literally sweep it away.

When the bad energy is removed the healer will bring new energy and put it into you. This may result in you feeling instantly lighter, a sense of emotional release, or relief from pain. However, for some individuals, the positive effects are not instantly felt.

There will be moments in the session where the healer will spray their hands to cleanse them of any residing bad energy. This energy will be disposed of in a saltwater bowl (usually placed on the floor).

During this process, you will not feel pain but you may experience a warm sensation, tingling, or you might find yourself leaning slightly towards the healer - this is normal.

The concept of physical and emotional healing through enhancing an individual’s flow of energy can be dismissed by sceptics. Ironically, it is the close-mindedness of such people that will prevent them from experiencing the mental and physical benefits of Pranic Healing. This is because the outcomes are influenced by an individual’s mindset going into a treatment session.

Having an open mind and trusting in your Pranic Healer will allow you to not only enjoy your session but also give your body and mind a chance to deeply heal.
