About me

Qualified therapist in Shiatsu, Chi Nei Tsang (abdominal massage), Meridian Massage (oil massage using Shiatsu meridians and pressure points), Lomi Lomi Hawaiian massage, and McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release®. Qualified Tai Chi and Qigong teacher.

In 2024 I am publishing Meet Us and Eat Us: Food plants from around the world, a co-authored book of poetry, prose, and fine art photography. It explores a selection of food plants in the context of their family relationships, history of use, geographical origin, and the journeys they take to reach our plates.

The book gives food plants a voice and agency, to encourage readers and cooks across a wide age range to actively engage in and take responsibility for their everyday food choices. Meet Us and Eat Us aims to stimulate thought, discussion and appetite through an imaginative, playful and scientifically rigorous exploration of food plants. Join the newsletter community for exclusive content, images, information and recipe ideas at http://meetusandeatus.co.uk.

I completed my Shiatsu training in 2010, and have continued to expand my range and enhance what I offer clients with different styles of hands-on treatments. Each works deeply but gently to harmonise body and mind. Please call for a free consultation. I also teach Tai Chi and Qigong.

All treatments are all suitable for men and women and include a consultation. Each treatment is unique, responding to your needs on the day while focussing on underlying issues and imbalances. I can also introduce simple mindfulness and Taoist meditations to practice at home, along with exercises and self-treatment recommendations to promote your wellbeing.

Other available therapies

Chi Nei Tsang, or Hara Shiatsu, is abdominal massage which connects deeply but gently with your centre. Chi Nei Tsang is given on the skin of the abdomen while you remain fully clothed on a comfortable floor mat or massage couch. It is beneficial for releasing the physical and emotional stress responses held in the internal organs, the vascular, lymphatic, nervous and fascia-tendon-muscular systems. Chi Nei Tsang is taught to you as you experience it, along with simple breath work and meditations, enabling you to keep yourself balanced at home. Chi Nei Tsang is not suitable for women with an IUD or during pregnancy, but it is an ideal way to prepare your body for conception and to restore the balance after giving birth.

Meridian Massage is is an indulgent full body massage using long, flowing strokes along the meridians. It treats pressure points that connect deeply with your body’s energy to restore your balance. Meridian Massage releases tension in the muscles and joints, promotes circulatory and lymphatic function, and relaxes the mind. The skin is enriched with Neal’s Yard Remedies organic essential oil blends and base oil. https://uk.nyrorganic.com/shop/surrey-shiatsu

Lomi Lomi is the Hawaiian art of massage. In Lomi Lomi long flowing strokes are given with the hands and forearms, using bodyweight to vary the pressure, washing the body in waves of compassionate intention. Nourishing organic coconut oil is massaged into the skin with strokes that travel smoothly along the full length of the body, giving a feeling of wholeness and integration.

McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release® is a gentle hands-on technique to promote the healthy function of scar tissue. Even scars decades old can change. From accident and operation scars to burns, acne scars and vaccination sites, MSTR® can improve circulation, sensation, and range of motion along with other benefits.
