Pranic Healing for men's health
Men are often recognised for their drive, strength, and resilience. But, beneath this exterior, we can be quite sensitive, too. We also face unique health challenges that, if not addressed properly, can have serious consequences. As men, we sometimes 'park' these issues to one side, hoping they’ll resolve on their own.
At times, we may adopt traits from our parents, especially from our fathers. While there is much to learn from them, there are situations where we need to protect ourselves by not taking on any negative or unwanted behaviours.
When I was younger, a stomach ache was quite a common occurrence I used to experience. Ultimately, it was stress-related but that was hard to admit at times. The pain was mainly on the lower part of my stomach and, once I accepted the pain was stress-related, it did get better.
Many men feel isolated when facing health issues, but, we are not alone. Pranic Healing therapy is one resource that can support us through mental, emotional and physical challenges. Initially, I turned to it for physical discomfort, but I now regularly have treatments preemptively for holistic health maintenance.
What is Pranic Healing?
Pranic Healing is a non-touch healing system brought to the public eye by Master Choa Kok Sui. It works with the energy based on the principle the energy body is a blueprint of the physical working on physical, mental and emotional conditions. The lifeforce energy around us from the sun, air and ground is used without depleting our own energy. The therapist cleanses the body/area, removing blockages and revitalising it with fresh energy also known as 'prana' (the Sanskrit word) or 'chi' in Chinese.
What issues can Pranic Healing help men with?
Pranic Healing techniques can be used in many ways to help men's health. Treatments can be applied to help with many issues, including fatigue, stress, anxiety, libido, erectile dysfunction, diet, allergies, gout, and more.
Maintaining men's health
Some of the most common health concerns for men include heart disease, prostate cancer, mental health and diabetes. As we get older, there is more to think about with the body slowing down. Or maybe not, depending on the state of your mind and what you are doing in life.
Here are seven tips to help us maintain good overall health in addition to Pranic Healing treatments - they have helped me:
1. Schedule regular check-ups with your doctor
I aim to do this every three months. It is important for men to get regular health screenings and to discuss any concerns or symptoms with their doctor.
2. Eat a healthy diet
A well-balanced and nutritious diet can help prevent many health conditions, including heart disease and diabetes. Incorporate plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats into your meals. I love cooking and making my own dishes.
3. Exercise regularly
Regular physical activity can help improve overall health and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week. Do the best you can - there are many group classes also available.
4. Prioritise mental health
Don't neglect your mental well-being. Take time for self-care activities and seek professional help if needed. It's okay to ask for help. I find meditation helpful - my favourite is the twin hearts meditation.
5. Limit alcohol consumption
Excessive alcohol consumption can have negative effects on overall health, including increasing the risk of certain cancers and liver disease. I enjoy a small glass of red wine but everything should be in moderation.
6. Get enough sleep
Adequate sleep is essential for good health. Aim for seven to nine hours of quality sleep each night but do your best. I use techniques to help me sleep such as calming music.
7. Manage stress
Chronic stress can have negative effects on both physical and mental health. Find healthy ways to manage stress, such as exercise, meditation, or talking to a trusted friend or therapist. Reflect on the day and focus on positivity.
Where do you go from here?
Reflect on yourself - what gaps do you have in your life, if any? Or maybe you have mental, emotional or physical discomfort. Visit your GP/doctor for more support or even talk to a friend. Put together a well-being plan and start as a new you.
From my experience, we men don't always like to admit how we are feeling. We don't like to share our feelings and emotions but over the years it gets easier which I think can only be a positive. Start now to make the change to create a healthier you.
