Welcome to Tranent Physiotherapy

SERVING EDINBURGH AND EAST LOTHIAN

At Tranent Physiotherapy we pride ourselves on maintaining a holistic approach to physiotherapy. Having spent many years working both privately and within the NHS, we recognise the need for an accurate diagnosis and rapid treatment in order to reduce the severity of the problem and prevent recurrence.

We will provide the highest quality assessment and treatment of your problem, to help people of all ages and abilities.  We are all highly experienced physiotherapists, specialising in musculoskeletal injuries.

We have specialists in lower back pain, knee pain, neck pain, migraines and headaches, strains and sprains and more, please ask.

Training, qualifications & experience

Shona Dewar (Clinical Director) is a chartered physiotherapist with registration of the Health & Care Professions Council. She graduated from Queen Margaret University Edinburgh in 2004 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. In 2014 she completed her Masters degree in Musculoskeletal Medicine, specialising in spinal manipulation for chronic low back pain. Shona also has additional training in the treatment of migraines and headaches using acupuncture and traditional physiotherapy techniques. More recently, Shona has qualified as a sonographer, allower her to scan injuries and carry out ultrasound guided injections.

Shona has more than 18 years’ experience at a senior level treating members of the public with musculoskeletal injuries both privately and within the NHS and has spent several years working with sportsmen both on and off the sports field. These experiences have enabled her to bring a wide variety of skills and expertise to the Musculoskeletal setting.

Having also worked in the Occupational Health setting, Shona is also trained in carrying out Ergonomic and Display Screen assessments.
