Caroline Terry (MAR)
Qualified independent Complementary Therapist offering a range of professional treatments to enhance well-being by re-balancing the connections between your mind and body.
In modern society, we all experience some degree of stress & whilst good stress leaves us feeling motivated & elevates our mood, negative stress manifests in various ways from headaches & irritability, to tension in the body usually found in the neck, shoulders & lower back. As our body prepares to ‘fight or flight’, our immune systems can become compromised & this is when disease sets in, which can lead to illness.
My journey into Complementary Therapies began in 2000. It was whilst a friend was studying her Reiki Masters & I became a case study for her. With each treatment I could sense a change in me. I decided that I wanted a piece of this life & to have my own complementary therapies business some day…
By carrying out an in-depth consultation at the start of the treatment, I can help identify some of the areas which may require additional focus & dedicate more time to these points to help stimulate the body’s defences to bring you back towards balance. Aftercare advice is always provided at the end of each treatment.
What is Reiki?
“Reiki” (ray-key) is Japanese for ‘universal life energy, and is also a word used to describe a system of natural healing. This tradition was founded by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century and evolved as a result of his research, experience and dedication.
What do Reiki treatments do?
The aim is to move and balance the energy within and around your body and to get rid of any energy blocks to encourage physical healing and strengthen your energy.
Reiki is a safe and soothing treatment which is performed with you fully clothed whilst sitting or lying down with your eyes closed and is beneficial to men, women and children of all ages. Reiki can be:
~ Comforting when life is tough ~ Supportive during pregnancy
~ Calming for children ~ Reassuring for animals ~ Helpful at the end of life
There are no known contra-indications for Reiki. It is a non-intrusive treatment that can be delivered in a variety of settings and requires no special equipment.
Is a complementary therapy which aims to encourage the body to relax & work naturally to restore it's own balance. It is based on the belief that all parts of the body are reflected in the feet & hands & gentle pressure & massage is applied to these areas; its hoped to have an effect on the corresponding part of the body & thus restore balance.
INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE
Is an ancient therapeutic treatment & it is incredibly relaxing! Ayurveda; Indian head massage focuses on your head, shoulders, neck & face. All in all, an Indian Head Massage will leave you feeling happier & speechless!
EMMETT Technique is an understanding of the body's response to light touch. It has been suggested that the body reacts in a similar way to the workings of a touch-screen. Small sensors allow access to the brain via the therapist's touch which directly influences a muscle reaction.
THERMO AURICULAR THERAPY (Ear Candling)
Ear candling is a holistic and complementary treatment. It is a relaxing natural approach and many people say they find it helpful for maintaining general health and well-being.
Those who may benefit from ear candling include those struggling with:
anxiety and stress
post flying and driving pressure
colds and flu
itching in the ears
Ensure you speak to your doctor about your symptoms to see if medical assistance is required. Ear candling works well as a complementary treatment, alongside medical interventions.
