About our teachers:
Lucy Trend is a teacher level member of the Register of the Shiatsu Society MRSS(T) and a member of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC – the Department of Health recommended regulatory body). She trained in Canada and Thailand and has been practicing and teaching in Glasgow since 1997. Her background is in dance performance and movement therapy. She teaches at the Glasgow and Edinburgh Schools of Shiatsu, and runs Thai Massage Training Scotland in Glasgow. She is also a doula (trained with Michel Odent and Lillian Lamers) and a trained Well Mother teacher, offering post graduate training courses for complementary therapists, midwives, doulas and OBGs in massage, shiatsu and moxibustion. She is active in the Positive Birth movement.
Julie Kane is a teacher at a secondary school in Glasgow. She first fell in love with Thai Yoga Massage on her travels to Thailand and South East Asia 15 years ago. While on holiday in Ko Samui two years ago she investigated training in the UK and signed up for the Introduction to Thai Yoga Massage with Lucy Trend a few months later. Since then Julie has completed the TYM diploma, TFM and Advanced Thai courses and she was an assistant to Lucy on the diploma course in 2016/17. Lesley Lewis is owner/therapist at Heart + Hara Massage and is qualified in Thai Yoga, Thai Foot, Onsite Acupressure and Pregnancy Massage. Having held a long-term interest in massage and complementary therapies Lesley’s Thai Massage journey began in June 2015 when she attended the a Beginners Weekend Course with Lucy. Lesley then went on to fulfilher ambition to become a professional therapist in 2016, gaining her Diploma in Thai Yoga Massage from Thai Massage Training Scotland. Lesley is an experienced Trainer and Assessor having delivered training in both public and private sectors over many years. She has a passion for all things Thai, practices Iyengar yoga and is a busy mum of two. Lesley is committed to continuing personal development and is working towards completing the Well Mother Diploma, again with Thai Massage Training Scotland, during 2017
John Caughey is a Level 3 Personal Trainer, with further teaching qualifications in Pilates and Yoga. In the main he works in the area of movement, mobility and flexibility. His introduction to Thai Massage was during a holiday in Thailand and having very much enjoyed the experience, he decided to would like to acquire this skill and discovered Thai Massage Training Scotland. He went on to complete the Advanced Diploma in Thai Massage and further training in advanced techniques, and currently has a study and varied client base.
Mark Russell has been practising Yoga for over 12 years and teaching for seven. He has spent months between India, Thailand and Laos studying Yoga with AG Mohan in Chennai and Thai Massage at the Thai Massage Circus. He has also studied for several years in the UK with the incredible Yoga anatomy teacher Gary Carter. He believes Yoga and Thai massage work incredibly well together and that Yoga teachers would benefit massively from learning some of these techniques.
