About me

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Notice for Clients:

SoPhysio Jan 2021

Covid-19 is highly contagious and in the community it can be transmitted in two ways;

1) Contact with contaminated surfaces.
2) Respiratory droplets travelling within a 2m radius from the infected person and making contact with a mucosal surface of another individual.

Therefore, only those whose symptoms cannot be treated remotely or those whose symptoms are are having a significant impact on their life will be invited for face-to-face appointments. Due to the nature of these appointments, there will be an element of contact and social distancing will not be able to be followed at all times.

As such, I have implemented measures to minimise risk of transmission or exposure to the virus by following the advice by the CSP (Chartered Society of Physiotherapy), Public Health England, HSE (Health and Safety Executive) and the UK Government. The below guidelines outline what you can expect and what is expected of you before and during your attendance at the clinic for a face-to-face appointment.

These guidelines are in place to ensure the safety of all patients, visitors and staff of Westlands Medical Centre.

COVID-19 symptoms?
Patients and chaperones (see below for more details on chaperones) must ensure they are fit to attend the scheduled Physiotherapy appointment. Sophie will call you a day before your appointment to complete a screening questionnaire with yourself and your chaperone, this must be signed by both parties on arrival to the clinic.

Prior to attending your appontment, you must inform Sophie if you or your chaperone, or a member of your household have any of the following symptoms:

- a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
- Change in sense of taste (Dysgeusia)
- Change in sense of smell (Anosmia)
If you have any of these symptoms please call Sophie or Westlands Medical Centre immediately and through personal judgement, seek advice by dialling 111.

If any of the above are applicable to you please do not attend any face-to-face appointments and self-isolate according to government guidelines.

Clinically extremely vulnerable/shielding?

If you have been asked to shield by the government or your GP you should notify us immediately and not attend the clinic.

Returned from abroad in the past two weeks?

If you have returned from abroad in the past two weeks you should notify us immediately and not attend the clinic.

What to expect when attending the clinic and what is expected from visitors

Physical distancing:
The 2m social distancing policy will be implemented in both the public areas of the clinic as well as the treatment rooms (when applicable).

To minimise the number of persons within the clinic, please do not attend the clinic more than 10 minutes before your appointment time. Please do attend on time as your appointment will not run over time as the time between patients is specifically designated for cleaning and to provide time between you leaving and the next patient arriving.

Chaperones:
Please attend appointments alone, where this is not possible due to travel to and from the clinic then please ask whoever is attending with you to wait in the car or outside the clinic.
If you require a personal chaperone, they must also follow hygiene and social distancing procedures and must also comply with the health screening and consent to contact tracing in order to attend.

Hygiene:
Hand sanitation gels will be available to disinfect hands on entrance to the practice and on departure.
Sanitisation of clinic seating and treatment plinth will be completed before and after each session.
Contactless payment will be achieved via BACS transfer.
There will be no unnecessary equipment in the clinic room to minimise risk of transmission from contact with contaminated surfaces. For example, reading material, gym equipment and the water machine have been removed.
Please be mindful of unnecessary contact of surfaces during your visit to the clinic.
Pens will be disinfected between use.
Tissues, foot operated bins and hand washing facilities or hand sanitiser will be provided in all clinic rooms and within the waiting room. In the event of a cough or sneeze please follow the ‘catch it, bin it, kill it’ guidance by disposing of your tissue in the bin provided and sanitising/washing your hands immediately.

PPE:
Sophie will be wearing a face masks, gloves, gown and googles throughout your session. The plastic disposable apron and gloves will be disposed of after each patient. Due to the close proximity of hands-on treatment, this can minimise the risk of infection to them or yourself.
The Physiotherapists will adhere to a rigorous and stringent handwashing routine between each appointment.
You will be required to wear a mask during your treatment.

Contact Tracing:
If you or your chaperone test positive for Covid-19 within 14 days of your attendance at the clinic you must notify us as soon as possible so that we are able to trace and advise all those who may have been affected.
In order to attend, you and your chaperone will be asked to consent to contact from myself via a telephone number that you provide on the day of attendance. This means that, in the event that you may have been exposed to someone who has tested positive, we can inform you and provide you with guidance on the next steps.

Some Client Feedback:

"Hi Sophie. Thank you for seeing me at such short notice yesterday. The area that you worked is much better, first good nights sleep I've had. Can't thank you enough"

"I went to sophysio hardly able to walk with awful back pain. I was 50%better after the first treatment and within 4 treatments I didn't need to go back. Couldn't be happier."

"Two painful injuries cured in no time, back to training and feeling strong!"

"Sophie is amazing I couldn't recommend anyone better. We are training for the london marathon and she has just been amazing getting us ready to set off the start line in the best condition possible. Thanks again sophysio xx"

"I visited Sophie after having a car accident. Before I met Sophie, I was given physio through my insurance company, I was given a very poor service & I was still in lots of pain. However, I heard about Sophie through a friend who spoke very highly of her. Sophie was wonderful, I felt at ease as soon as I met her. She conducted a very thorough assessment of my pain, and was very understanding. I had roughly 8 appointments. I couldn't recommend her more. Thank you Sophie, you have made me pain free again."

"Having been in pain with golfers elbow for several weeks, I saw Sophie for some advice. She gave me 2 sessions where she strapped my elbow with sports tape. Symptoms fully resolved with these 2 sessions and one year on I am still pain-free and playing golf!"

"I visited Sophie last year for my long term back pain. Treatment has all but cured the constant pain in my lower back. It is a professional, friendly atmosphere and has shown that regular sports massage improved my lifestyle"

"I began sessions with Sophie after suffering with severe Achilles tendinitis for three months making it very difficult to walk as well as complete my normal training programmes. After three acupuncture/massage treatments I'm now pain free which was very surprising considering the last time I suffered with this injury it took 8 months to heal. Sophie is very knowledgeable and friendly and can advise on the most suitable excises and muscle/tendon supports you can use to get you back to full health"

"Sophie is knowledge, charming and has a range of alternative treatments as well as physio. My knee had been hurting for months and three sessions including cupping it has made such an improvement I can run without injury again. Thanks Sophie"

"After 7 years of problems with my shoulder (unknown cause) I went to Sophie through a friend's recommendation. She really put me at ease and, for the first time, I felt like I was being listened to; I'd had years of being brushed off and prescribed Naproxene by others! I can now go days/weeks where I do not need pain relief which is amazing. Super professional, extremely knowledgeable and wonderfully friendly. Thanks Sophie!"

"I visited Sophie after finding a niggling pain in my wrist becoming worse. Following treatment and advice I am now back in the gym and training again at full capacity exactly in the time frame predicted. If in any doubt about any injury or discomfort you have it is so worth using Sophie as you are guaranteed an excellent service and are sure to be put at ease and given treatment/advice that will make you injury free. Sophie provided treatment at a very good price and was completely flexible to find a time that suited. Overall a top notch service!"

"I went to see Sophie with pregnancy related aches. She was very supportive and professional and gave me some good practical advice as well as being honest about the results. She communicates well through text and email which was handy for me due to my working hours.
I would definitely see Sophie again if I needed to in the future and recommend her to others."

"A great lady who went out of her way to help and relive my pain/situation. Practical advice with follow up and great support - can't recommend enough- now on my contact list!"
