About me

I am an experienced Bowen Therapist and Emmett Therapist working in the centre of Inverurie Monday/Wednesday. I am fully qualified and regularly undertake refresher courses and CPD. I am always looking to improve my practice and have completed courses in Fascia Bowen, Neural Touch and Walker Technique for physical therapies and also have passed a course in counselling for emotional issues and and OldPain2Go which aims to reduce pain messages or delete them completely.  This, I believe adds another dimension to the treatment I can offer.

I regularly treat babies who have colic and reflux.

I see people with a wide range of conditions and have done courses in TMJ/TMD issues and assessment.

OldPain2Go  is a modiality developed by Steven Blake. Pain originates in the brain and is sent to an area to alert you to a problem. Once the problem has been addressed the pain should go. When it doesn't and it's stuck in a loop, it's called chronic pain and this is what OldPain2Go addresses. It shows you how to shut off those old pain messages which are still being sent and which are no longer necessary.  Sometimes only one treatment is needed to reduce or even remove those old pain messages, and there is a free follow up session if required.

Over the years I have come to realise that many people coming for pain relief are also suffering emotional pain. While I believe Emmett and Bowen can help with this to an extent I also offer Reiki and EFT along with OldPain2Go to address emotional issues, because I believe the whole person should be treated to facilitate a full recovery.

If you have suffered an emotional trauma of any sort - a bereavement, car accident, the shock of a diagnosis or even a trauma as a child which has never left you, then this can manifest itself physically after a time. This physical symptom will always return if it is not addressed. How do you know if you have a trauma you think you have buried, but which is actually still affecting you? If you can think of this trauma and you have a physical reaction - tears welling up, tight chest, adrenaline surge, flushing, shivering or any other reaction, then you haven't actually buried it and it will affect you physically in some way or another. It could be IBS, or an ulcer, shoulder pain, headaches etc. EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique is a technique, not a treatment and many believe it is very effective. You can learn it online for free and I believe it always works. It is usually best to go through it with someone who knows the technique well and can teach you how to get to the route of the problem. OldPain2Go can be used very effectively for trauma too.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am registered with the Bowen Therapy Professional association and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council. I hold a currant First Aid Certificate and full insurance. I must also undertake regular courses throughout the year. I have passed EFT levels 1 and 2 and Reiki II.

In addition I undertake courses which may not be Bowen related but which I believe will increase my ability to serve my clients. I am an Advanced Emmett practitioner.  This Technique will often provide immediate relief to pain and is integral in my treatments. I have passed a Diploma in Counselling with distinction. I have trained in MSTR (McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release) and am working towards practitioner status. I am also qualified in the Walker Technique which is a tissue draining technique. It is a very effective technique which can relieve pain immediately. This technique used before a Bowen session can increases the effectiveness of the Bowen Technique. I am also an OldPain2Go practitioner.

I also dowse for food sensitivities.
