About me

I am an experienced Therapist working in the centre of Inverurie Monday/Thursday. I am fully qualified and regularly undertake refresher courses and CPD.

I see people with a wide range of painful conditions. My aim is to lessen or even remove the pain associated with the condition. I can either use physical therapies which are gentle but effective, such as The Bowen Technique or Emmett Technique, or talking therapies, including counselling.

Pain originates in the brain and is sent to an area to alert you to a problem. Once the problem has been addressed the pain should go. When it doesn't and it's stuck in a loop, it's referred to as chronic pain. I do not need to address specific conditions to change the pain associated with the condition. It is perfectly possible to have a condition but with less, or no pain.

Suppose you have suffered emotional trauma of any sort - a bereavement, car accident, the shock of a diagnosis or even a trauma as a child that has never left you. In that case, this can manifest itself physically after a time. This physical symptom will always return if it is not addressed. How do you know if you have a trauma you think you have buried, but which is actually still affecting you? If you can think of this trauma and you have a physical reaction - tears welling up, tight chest, adrenaline surge, flushing, shivering or any other reaction, then you haven't actually buried it and it will affect you physically in some way or another. It could be IBS, or an ulcer, shoulder pain, headaches etc.

Research has now shown that trauma affects every cell in your body, and each cell remembers the trauma. What I aim to do is date stamp that trauma and show you how to leave it very firmly in the past. You will always remember it, but my aim is for that memory to have no physical effect when it comes up.

A phobia, for example, has usually manifested because it's a learned behaviour from an adult you looked up to as a child, or from a trauma. Either way, that reaction can be changed. Mild allergies like Hayfever etc. can also be addressed.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully trained Bowen Therapist and an Advanced Emmett Technique Therapist. This Technique will often provide immediate pain relief and is integral in my treatments.

I am an OldPain2Go Practitioner. This is a talking therapy whereby I show clients how to reduce or even remove their pain by using a brain training technique. Sessions are available in person or online.

I have passed a Diploma in Counselling with distinction and am an MSTR (McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release) Practitioner.

I have passed EFT levels 1 and 2 and Reiki II and I hold a current First Aid Certificate and full insurance. I must also undertake regular courses throughout the year.
