I am a trauma informed Biodynamic Craniosacral therapist, shiatsu practitioner and psychotherapeutic counsellor, with over 25 years of clinical experience.
The Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy (BCST) is incredibly healing and settling for the body, particularly the nervous system, which stores the imprint of trauma.
BCST emphasizes a more subtle, non-directive approach, focusing on supporting the body's self-healing mechanisms and working with the body's inherent rhythms, while non-biodynamic approaches may employ more direct techniques to influence the body's alignment. It is a type of bodywork where the therapist in silence listens to the client’s continuous unfolding. It is in this quiet, peaceful and heartfelt setting that the body can speak.
The approach I use with BCST is similar as body psychotherapy which addresses the strong connection between body, mind and spirit.
It is deeply relaxing, restorative therapy, and supports people recovering from a wide range of physical, emotional, spiritual and psychological issues.
What happens during a BCST session?
An initial case history is taken followed by you lying down fully clothed on a comfortable couch. It is also possible to work with you sitting up on a chair, if lying down is difficult for you. I will make contact with your body either by touching areas of your body gently and lightly or I might touch you off body, which means I will have my hands close to you body but not physically touching you. This type of approach is used in cases where for example, there is a chance of hyperarousal due to all sorts of traumatic experiences.
What most people experience during a treatment is deep relaxation followed by a good night of sleep. Most often people report a deepest sense of being fully heard and met. As well as, inner peace, a sense of relief, deep stillness and relaxation, connection, acceptance, feeling fully alive and feeling whole again.
It can help to:
*support your body’s natural and innate ability to balance, restore and heal itself
*reduce stress
*build underlying energy
*both acute and chronic conditions can respond well with BCST
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is suitable for everyone, from newly-born babies to the elderly.
Shiatsu
What is shiatsu?
Shiatsu is, originally a Japanese massage with the influence of traditional Chinese medicine behind it. Although the word shiatsu in Japanese means “finger pressure” other parts of the practitioner’s body are used to apply pressure at different degrees on the body, such as hands, knees, elbows and sometimes feet. Stretches, joint rotation, and joint mobilisation are other tools that can be used accordingly. Shiatsu is a holistic form of therapy that improves a person’s overall health by affecting their internal energy system. It can help with a variety of physical, psychological and emotional issues.
What happens in a shiatsu massage session?
Initially on your first session with me, we spend about 30min getting to know how you are doing and what brought you to shiatsu. The work is done with you fully clothed on a futon on the floor. Various types of touch and techniques can be applied accordingly to your needs. I perform manual techniques, such as body stretches, rotations, breathing techniques, soothing, stretching and pressure using my thumbs, fingers, palms, and knees.
As your mind quietens your body has a chance to deeply relax and release tensions. At the heart of shiatsu is the mysterious and powerful ability of your body to heal itself. Allowing the central nervous system to realign, creating a sense of balance, peace, calm, clarity and relief.
My shiatsu Style
My style of shiatsu integrates breathwork, visualization, meditation and craniosacral therapy. My work is also informed by trauma trainings, martial arts, meditation and psychotherapy which helps me to deliver a sophisticated approach to my clients where they feel fully heard.
Feeling listened in that way can be a powerful component of the healing process, as it fosters a sense of validation, understanding, and connection, which can be crucial for emotional and psychological well-being. When someone feels truly heard, it can create a sense of safety and support, allowing them to process difficult emotions and experiences.
Testimonials:
"It was a lovely session, and I really appreciated the care and sensitivity of the massage - you have an absolutely fantastic touch. I felt very energized the day after, and much more relaxed that week. My shoulders especially have been better since! Thanks again!"

"Craniosacral with Tania has been for me and my children a very nourishing experience that has helped us through difficult times. She is a sensitive, gentle and skillful therapist. Her ability to connect with the energy flow in our bodies cannot be fully described in words, but the experiences we had were exceptionally profound and positive."
R P.
"Thank you for yesterday. It was good to meet you and have that space and an initial treatment. I felt safe, which is saying quite a lot, as I pretty much never do."
L.R.
"Dear Tânia, Thank you so much for my treatment today, I feel very different, more spacious, peaceful and balanced. The treatment was perfect, completely perfect, but it's not about the perfection, it is about what you brought to it, how you held space for me. Thank you so much. I think Paul Vick would have said 10/10!!!" P. P. (BCST client)
"Thank you so much for yesterday's Craniosacral treatment, you are gifted...I feel like being reborn! Really there was a great release. I feel like a different person, thank you for facilitating this." A. B.
"I know that my sessions with Tania prompted a great surge of energetic healing, and emotions that were long held were released organically. And having been chronically unwell for the last few years it excited me to know that this treatment moved something very profoundly, away from stagnation into movement and flow." W.S. (BCST client)
"Hi Tânia, just to say thank you for the blissful treatment yesterday. It was so good and I really needed it as I am finding life difficult at the moment. I think you have a real gift for shiatsu. H.B."
"Tania has been giving Shiatsu massages to me for most weeks for almost two years. She is very conscientious and professional."
I have gained from Tania's Shiatsu treatments in two particular areas. Firstly, aches (from sports injuries) in my knees or spasms in my back are minimized or eliminated by her treatments, to a much greater extent than through using a physiotherapist. Secondly, the pressures and stresses of my work are considerable, and I find her treatments very helpful from a relaxation/well-being point of view.
I unhesitatingly recommend her - she is excellent! C.W."
"Thank you very much for all of your help the day I was born. My mummy is extremely grateful and says that she couldn't have done it without you! Love J.N." (Shiatsu client - hospital brith)
