Further information

Swedish Massage consists of fluid movements that warm up the muscles, release muscle tension and gradually breaks up muscle knots or adhered tissues.

One of the primary goals of Swedish Massage is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of the blood flow, decreasing muscle toxin and improving circulation and flexibility, while easing tension.

Deep tissue is a form of massage that focuses on releasing the deeper myofascial restrictions of the deeper muscles, tendons and ligaments of the body. It employs slow and deep stroke techniques with the intent of breaking up old structural patterns and allowing the free flow of nutrients and oxygen to the blood. A considerable amount of pressure is applied to the client which may cause some level of discomfort however the therapist will always work within the client's pain threshold.

Deep tissue massage helps to free trapped nerves, oxygenate poorly circulated areas and allows the spine and joints to relax into correct alignment by applying gradual pressure to access deeper layers of the body.

If you have been diagnosed with or suspect you may have a pre-existing medical condition you should consult your GP for advice, diagnosis and treatment and always inform your health professional before starting any alternative or additional therapies, treatments or making any major changes in your diet or exercise programme.
