Osteopathy and Natural Health Clinic
If you are wanting an effective treatment to get you out of pain and moving better so that you can get back to living your life again, then we are here to help you. Our Clinic combines natural drug free treatment methods that use Osteopathy with Active Release Techniques® (ART).
We are a family centred Clinic established in 2000 dedicated to helping our communities on the Wirral and the surrounding areas. People come to us for help in the treatment of a broad range of conditions including back and neck pain, headaches, sciatica, repetitive strain, sports injuries and arthritis. Our patients range from 1 day old to 100 years old, including babies, children, mothers, sports men and women, dancers, office workers, labourers, students and the elderly.
The Clinic also offers a wide range of other complementary therapies, aimed at enhancing your health and promoting well-being. Established for over 12 years, our highly qualified and experienced practitioners are dedicated to providing the highest standards of treatments, personalised for your individual needs. We believe that our commitment to the highest levels of professionalism is what has lead to regular referrals from GP’s, insurance companies and other therapists through our Clinic.
Training, qualifications & experience
Shirley Kay, Registered Osteopath and Naturopath, graduated from the prestigious British College of Naturopathy and Osteopathy (BCNO) with a first class BSc honours degree in Osteopathic Medicine and a Diploma in Naturopathy. She also holds a Law degree and a professional qualification as a Barrister from a previous career.
Since starting clinical practice in 2000, in order to provide ever-higher levels of patient care, Shirley has taken extensive post graduate studies to further her understanding and expertise in treating musculoskeletal conditions. She brings a broad, diversified knowledge-base to all her patient treatments and and her advanced post graduate training includes:
- Diploma in Paediatric Osteopathy
- Diploma in Classical Osteopathy
- Diploma in Animal Osteopathy
- Diploma in Naturopathy
- Full Body Certified Provider of Active Release Technique (ART)
- Licensed Perrin Technique practitioner (specialist treatment for CFS/ME)
- Nutrition and Lifestyle Coach levels 1 and 2 certified by Paul Chek
- Exercise Coach certified by Paul Chek
- Various post graduate courses in Cranial Osteopathy (BSO and Sutherland Cranial College)

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
General Osteopathic Council
It is against the law for anyone in the UK to practice using the title 'Osteopath' without registering with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).
This professional body regulates all osteopaths in the UK and sets and promotes high standards of competency, conduct and safety.
Initial consultation fee 1 hour (including first treatment) £50
Follow up sessions are half an hour £40
Children (aged 16 and under) and infants
First consultation (including first treatment) is half an hour £30

Treatment is available on a private fee paying basis. We require payment at the end of each treatment session. We accept cash or a cheque. Please note that we do not accept card payments. Please ask for a receipt if you need one.
Most private health insurance companies pay for osteopathic treatment, but policies vary so please check with your insurers first. Some pay only a proportion of the fee, some require a referral from your family doctor, while others require a referral from a consultant or specialist. Shirley is registered as a Specialist with BUPA and AXA PPP. If you wish to claim on your insurance please check the requirements of your policy first.
You must tell us that you intend to claim on your health insurance policy when you make your first appointment, otherwise your claim might be invalid.
