About me

Dr. Neil Thomas DC, MChiro, Lic. Ac, PGDip (AdvPrac), PGCert (ProfDev), PGCert (MedEd), MRCC (Ortho), MBCA, MICPA.

Doctor of Chiropractic, Medical Acupuncturist & Medical Educator.

I have a great passion for helping people improve and maintain their health and maximise their potential. To do this, I use diverse techniques and methods to help you on your road to recovery; by training in various specialised chiropractic and other manual therapy systems, I have increased my ability to treat a very wide variety of neuro-musculoskeletal conditions.

I provide Chiropractic care and Medical Acupuncture (full body and auricular) as well as a specialist auricular acupuncture technique called Battlefield Acupuncture. I specialise in postural correction and reversal of abnormal spinal curvatures. I also have a special interest in paediatrics and have undergone further training in paediatric chiropractic.

I have a wealth of experience in treating complicated or stubborn conditions and I take pride in my ability to help my patients recover, allowing them to move and feel better and live a life free of pain and dysfunction.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been in full-time practice for several years, treating people from all walks of life. Since graduating as a chiropractor I have continued in postgraduate education, gaining further qualifications, valuable skills and experience. I have a special interest in anterior head carriage and hyperkyphosis or ‘hunch back’, where the upper part of the spine curves too far forward leading to a multitude of adverse symptoms; to correct this I use a very specific manual therapy technique that drastically improves or reverses these abnormal spinal curvatures.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Chiropractic (MChiro) (Welsh Institute of Chiropractic - University of South Wales)
  • Licentiate of Acupuncture (Lic. Ac) (Liverpool John Moores University)
  • Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Clinical Sciences – Advanced Professional Practice (Bournemouth University)
  • Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Professional Development (Chiropractic) (Bournemouth University)
  • Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Medical Education (Newcastle University).

I have also been awarded a Diploma in Chiropractic from the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) and European Academy of Chiropractic (EAC). A Diploma in Chiropractic is awarded once a chiropractor has completed one year post-registration training.

I am also currently undertaking a Professional Doctorate (DProf) in Health and Social Care with Teesside University where I am conducting a clinical trial on the reversal or abnormal spinal curvatures and is due to be completed in January 2021.

I am a member of the British Chiropractic Association (BCA), Royal College of Chiropractors (RCC) Orthopaedics, Rehabilitation and Exercise faculty and International Chiropractic Paediatric Association (ICPA). I am also an RCC post-registration training scheme (PRTS) tutor for newly graduated Chiropractors and I am also the Director of Academic Affairs for the RCC’s Orthopaedics, Rehabilitation and Exercise faculty.
