More about Joanna
From an early career in nursing I became interested in complementary therapies and the remarkable abilities of the body to heal itself. Following training at the Harry Edwards Healing Sanctuary in Surrey over 8 years ago I have continued to develop my fascination with working with energy. Following a stint in corporate life and the many stresses and strains of a demanding job, I learned first hand the value of taking time out to redress the balance of an overly busy mind.
We live in fast-paced times! There may be many demands on us during the working week; managing the household, organising the family, fitting in our friends and interests – modern living can leave little time to stop and re-balance, which can be stressful. Prolonged stress can take a toll on our physical and mental wellbeing.
The treatments are designed to work holistically, bringing a sense of physical, mental and emotional wellbeing to leave you refreshed and fit for life!
I look forward to welcoming you into A Space for Stillness to leave the rush of the world behind a while.
Training, qualifications & experience
Joanna Lee, CRM5, PRM
- Centralia Level 5 Mastership in Reflexology
Presently the highest level qualification in reflexology in the UK covering in-depth anatomy & physiology. Think of your feet as representing the body in miniature. By working certain points or "reflexes" in the foot which correspond to the body's organs, the aim is to restore balance and trigger the body's own healing mechanisms.
Therapy takes place in a comfortable reclining chair, fully clothed (except for bare feet!). There is nothing to do but simply relax. The treatment will take about an hour.
- Reiki - Usui Shiki Ryoho Natural system of healing.
Trained at the Navitas Centre in Cheshire where the Usui lineage of Reiki masters is followed and honoured, this therapy is the gentle movement of energy, again designed to support the re-balancing of mind and body. Remaining fully clothed, you receive this therapy lying on a comfortable couch (or sitting if preferred). The practitioner will gently touch the body, principally around the head and torso then working down the legs to encourage free-flowing energy. (a no-touch technique can be adopted if preferred.) The treatment will take up to 50 minutes.
- Indian Head Massage Dip.
Believed to have its origins in the ancient system of medicine known as Ayurveda, Indian head massage was developed by “Rishis” or wise/holy men around 1800BC in the Himalayan region of the Indian subcontinent. The basic principle is one of holistic health, with massage an acknowledged method of cleansing and maintaining the body, whilst conferring a feeling of mental wellbeing
You will be seated in a comfortable upright chair with your shoulders exposed. The treatment covers the neck and shoulders with various massage techniques, moving onto the head and scalp. Acupressure points around the face and ears are stimulated. The treatment time is around 40 minutes.
Reflexology from £40
Indian Head Massage £30
