About me

I have been a qualified Bowen Practitioner since November 2004 and in 2006 qualified in Anatomy & Physiology and Holistic Massage.

I have treated many people with the Bowen Technique and they continue to return for regular 'maintenance' sessions as it enables them to continue with the hobbies and lifestyles they enjoy.

In July 2010 I qualified as a Shibashi Tai Chi and Tai Chi Bang Instructor. I've worked for AgeUK in the past but now run my own private Tai Chi classes and Bowen practice from home.  I enjoy teaching people from within the community as it's a wonderful way to see their progress and development in this relaxing form of exercise.

I've continued my CPD by undertaking a very gentle Facia Bowen Level 2 workshop with Howard Plummer. This very light touch therapy combines beautifully with my Bowen practice and works on the connective tissues, dermatones and chemistry (especially Serotonin) of the body.

The Bowen Technique and Facia Bowen are very helpful in treating chronic Screen%20Shot%202014-09-17%20at%2015.37.conditions such as:-

* muscular skeletal conditions (backache, hips, knees, ankles, shoulders, elbows, wrists)

* sports injuries

* menopausal symptoms

* headaches/migraines

* stress/anxiety

* scar tissue release

* frozen shoulder/tennis elbow

As Howard Plummer says "you touch the surface to stir the depths".

My treatment room is based at home and I am Registered with The Complimentary Therapists Association and Insured with Holistic Insurance Services.

Holistic Massage
£50 per massage treatment. A treatment can be designed to suit your personal requirements. I am happy to listen to what you would like and adapt the massage as required.  I only offer massage to female clients.

Bowen Therapy
£48 for the first treatment and £45 thereafter.  I initially recommend between 1- 3 consecutive visits as Bowen is a progressive treatment that allows the body time to get to the 'cause' of the symptom, followed by maintenance treatments every 6-8 weeks or to suit your needs to keep on top of the condition.

Shibashi Tai Chi and Fragrant Qigong
I teach 6 local classes in West Somerset. For more information please contact me at home in the evening to discuss the different venues and times.  From April 2020 a block of 6 classes is £39.

Individual sessions are available upon request at £25 an hour, plus petrol expenses, depending on where you live.

Appointments can be arranged both during the week and at weekends. It is best to call me to discuss your particular requirements.

Further information

I personally found the Bowen Technique after suffering a fractured right thigh 30 years ago.  I was on crutches for 7 months (non-load bearing) and during this time my shoulders, elbows, arms, wrists and left leg all became overtired and symptomatic. I tried various other forms of treatment which helped a bit, but nothing held long term. Out of desperation I found the Bowen Technique and was amazed by the results.  After several treatments my body started feeling more balanced and comfortable.  I found I slept better after the treatments and my whole body felt more relaxed.  I was so impressed that I asked my therapist about how to train in the Bowen Technique as I was convinced this was what I'd been looking for. I haven't looked back and I'm continually amazed at how Bowen works and what Bowen can achieve.

I'm now the proud owner of two new hips (the result of my fractured hip 30 years ago and subsequent osteoarthritis). However I've maintained my flexibility with Somatics, Yoga and Tai Chi.  Having experienced, first hand, how undergoing these operations can effect the rest of your body, allows me the insight into other peoples pain.  I also appreciate and understand how pain can impinge on you both physically and emotionally and the importance of maintaining good physical and mental health both before and after operations.

Prior to and after my second operation on 18th October 2017 I prepared my own body by seeing a chiropractor (to ensure my skeletal balance) and a Bowen Practitioner (to get my muscles in alignment).  After my operation I returned to the Bowen Practitioner to help speed up the healing process, breakdown scar tissue and allow my body to re-balance itself.

Six years down the line I continue to teach my Tai Chi classes, attend a weekly Somatics and Yoga class and see a Bowen Practitioner monthly to maintain my muscle alignment.  I love to walk and be able to enjoy all the amazing countryside we have around us in West Somerset.

The human body never ceases to amaze me with what it can accomplish with a little help from the Bowen Technique.  I am also a qualified First Aider and I'm Registered with the CThA and covered by Holistic Insurance.
