CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY FOR ADULTS & CHILDREN
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle and subtle therapy that works with the body’s own natural healing process. Through a light contact, the therapist “listens” or tunes in to the person’s system, feeling where there are restrictions or imbalances and following the pattern of restriction (such as an area of tension or trauma) until it releases and resolves itself.
People seek craniosacral therapy for many different reasons, including long term physical and mental/emotional conditions, trauma, certain types of injury, tension and stress. Craniosacral therapy works with the whole body, helping it to re-align itself and find its natural balance. It works on many levels, benefitting not just the physical but also the mental, emotional and even spiritual health of a person.
People often hold tension or stress within their bodies without being fully aware of it (for example, hunching up their shoulders), and a sensitive therapist will treat not only the physical problem but also any underlying patterns that may be contributing to it.
As craniosacral therapy is so gentle, it is suitable for all age groups from babies to the elderly, including pregnant / new mothers and people with fragile conditions. It is perhaps best known for its use on new born babies.
Training, qualifications & experience
Jackie gained her diploma in craniosacral therapy from the College of Craniosacral Therapy in London and is registered with the Craniosacral Therapy Association of the UK (CSTA).
Jackie has followed a spiritual path for the last 12 years, working with Celtic and Native American traditions that teach of being in harmony within yourself, and with the world around you. She has practised yoga for the last ten years, and tai chi before that. Through this training, she has developed a sensitive awareness of the body and the role it plays in a person’s mental, emotional and spiritual well being. Her approach to healing work is holistic, and she loves working with the body’s own natural ability to heal and re-balance itself.
Adults: £40 for 1hr
Children under 18: £25 for 30-60 mins (depending on age of child)
Unwaged/low waged: please pay what you can afford
Missed appointments are charged at full price, and cancellations within 24hrs of the session are charged at half price.
For the initial craniosacral therapy session, the therapist will take a case history before the treatment to discuss what you are seeking from the session and any past injuries, operations or other experiences that may be relevant.
During the treatment itself, you would lie (or sit if more comfortable) fully-clothed on a treatment couch.
The number of sessions that people need varies, depending on the person and what is being treated. Some people continue to come every few months after their initial treatments for a “top up” or fine tuning.
If you have been diagnosed with or suspect you may have a pre-existing medical condition you should consult your GP for advice, diagnosis and treatment and always inform your health professional before starting any alternative or additional therapies, treatments or making any major changes in your diet or exercise programme.
