I am a qualified soft tissue therapist, specialising in full body massages. Soft tissue therapy is remedial and works to restore damaged tissues in the body. This therapy extends further than a massage by including other release techniques and joint movement. Postural training and exercise advice is recommended to clients according to their body. These recommendations are grounded in a deep knowledge of dance and yoga, alongside a committed practise of both. The aim of this therapeutic massage is to leave clients feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and more aware of their bodies.
I use a combination of techniques when working with my clients, and my primary concern is helping them to correct bad postural habits and dysfunctions in the soft tissues. I use general massage techniques such as effleurage, petrissage and friction work. I also use muscle energy techniques, soft tissue release and neuromuscular techniques. I have a specialist interest in working with the neuromuscular technique as I am concerned with breaking down the build up of deep tension in the tissues and nerves where clients have been suffering from years of bad habits.
I am an experienced dancer and yoga teacher with a strong commitment to helping people to increase their strength and flexibility as well as their ability to relax. My training as a teacher at Rishikesh Yog Peeth in India has allowed me to study and practise a variety of yoga styles. These include Hatha, Iyengar, Restorative and Ashtanga yoga styles. My dance experience has given me a sound understanding of the musculo-skeletal system in motion and the ability to tailor classes to suit individual needs.
I teach and study a variety of yoga styles, this allows me to design classes specific to what the client wishes to focus on. I am very specific on correct and safe alignment throughout the class, and work to improve student's posture, strength, breathing and relaxation. I am hands on and encouraging with my approach, and truly enjoy seeing students develop their awareness of their bodies and minds.
I have a special interest in Restorative and yin yoga. I focus on mindful alignment of body and breath. My approach to teaching is both direct and empathetic as I have experienced the challenges facing both beginners and advanced students.
