About us

My passion and experitse lies in educating my patients about how their
bodies work. I offer guidance on what is available in nature to support the
body's natural healing abilities, resulting in happier, healthier lives.

I believe that the body has a natural wisdom and the ability to heal itself in many cases. This is especially true when it comes to women’s health and fertility. There are so many external things that can affect us, from stress to environment to the food we eat. When our bodies are out of step with nature, true health is out of reach.

My goal as a Naturopath, Nutritionist and Fertility Coach is to help women and men to discover how to promote natural healing in their bodies; leading to better health, a higher chance of natural conception, safer pregnancies, and relief from many ailments that occur when the body’s natural balance is disrupted.

Natural Fertility methods can help you identify and overcome barriers to fertility, improve chances of a natural conception and boost IVF success.

First Steps and How to Book
You can book one of two ways, either complete the Book an Appointment form below and we’ll call you back to discuss a suitable time and to answer any questions you may have about us, or you can pick up the phone, if we don’t answer, we’re probably seeing clients so either leave a message and we’ll try our best to call you back as soon as possible.

Once you have scheduled your appointment, you will be emailed a questionnaire to bring completed to your first session, you may also be asked to complete an online questionnaire. These questionnaires will cover your full health picture and will provide much valuable information for Kathleen during your sessions and will also help make the most of your appointment time as they are reviewed prior to seeing you in clinic.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your appointment time to enjoy a complimentary herbal tea and be in a relaxed state for your consultation. If your appointment is via Skype, please ensure that you have tested that everything is working correctly and you’ve added us to your contact list.

Initial Appointment:
The initial appointment is structured to understand your health complaints in as much detail as possible. Together we will discuss your health history and goals for treatment. If required, we will refer patients for additional assessments that need to be completed between the first and second appointments. We will discuss our initial treatment recommendations, and the development of your treatment plan and program is organised in this session. This appointment lasts one hour for individuals and 1.5 hours for couples.

Second Appointment:
At the second appointment (typically held 1-3 weeks after the initial appointment) Kathleen will review results from any assessments and fine-tune your treatment plan. This session is where treatment truly begins, and you will begin to take your first few steps towards a greater level of health and wellbeing. This appointment also lasts one hour for individuals and 1.5 hours for couples.

Follow-up Appointments:
Your follow-up appointments from this point are entirely dependent on your presenting health complaint, its duration and identified roadblocks to health. Often we will see patients more regularly in the initial stages, and then appointments are conducted on a monthly basis until your health has stabilised. Patients then traditionally see us a few times a year to help keep their health on track or for more acute conditions as they arise.

Treatment Results
Treatment results vary depending on the individual and their presenting complaint. Some individuals obtain quick results whilst others take several months or longer. As a general rule, the longer you have been experiencing your complaint for, the longer you will require treatment. It is important to remember that the healing process takes time. We are not simply trying to alleviate your symptoms; Kathleen’s aim is to bring you to a greater level of health.

Cancellation Policy
Our goal is to provide quality health care in a timely manner. As such, we have had to implement an appointment cancellation policy. This policy enables us to better utilise available appointments for our patients in need of our services. Please be courteous and notify us by phone or email if you are unable to attend an appointment at least two working days prior to your scheduled appointment. We will then be able to allocate this time to someone on our waiting list. Please note that if you miss an appointment or reschedule inside the 48 hours we reserve the right to charge the full consultation fee.

Money Back Guarantee
Our sole aim is to support you on your journey to better health and leave you completely satisfied with our services. After your second appointment, if you are not perfectly happy with the service we have given you, please tell us. If we cannot resolve it to your satisfaction, we will cheerfully return the money you have spent on your first two appointments. We know it’s a big step to try something new, and want to ensure you have nothing to lose by giving us a chance to help you. We are confident that once you take responsibility for your health, you will realise that you have everything to gain!

Further information

Hello! I’m Kathleen Boyd. I founded Birds & Bees as a registered and experienced Naturopath, Nutritionist and Fertility Coach having seen a need for women’s health care and natural fertility in Putney, South West London, and the surrounding areas.

I became interested in natural health during my final year in secondary school. I had originally planned on becoming a veterinarian, but my dreams were shattered when I did work placement. I grew very upset at the vet for cutting off dogs’ tails, and grew faint at the sight of blood. A change was in order!

Having grown up with a very sick mother who had relied on pharmaceutical medicine to manage her symptoms that never really improved, I thought there must be another way – and that is when I discovered naturopathy.

After three year’s full-time study, I took my first job with Janesce – a natural skin care company treating skin complaints like eczema, psoriasis and acne. I then set up my own practice, which I ran for many years helping thousands of clients with various conditions. I went on to work for Australia’s leading Nutritional Medicine company – Metagenics.

After I moved to London, I undertook additional postgraduate study in natural fertility and preconception care. I was prompted to make this life changing decision due to my own struggles trying to conceive a baby. You see, I myself have polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), a condition that stops ovulation and was told from a young age that I would never conceive without the use of fertility drugs or IVF.

I couldn’t accept that diagnosis. I was determined to follow my belief that the female body, if given the right opportunity, will restore itself. After developing and following my program based on nutrition, herbal medicine and lifestyle changes, I began to ovulate every month and conceived naturally!

My personal experience with infertility and miscarriage gave me a passion for helping couples struggling to have a baby. Today, I help patients achieve their optimal health goals and reproductive potential. I am completely dedicated to supporting and educating my patients so they can take control of their health in order to get the best out of life.

I’m not a “crazy health freak”. I enjoy a good cup of coffee, occasional red wine, and “therapeutic” chocolate and believe that “being healthy” doesn’t mean you have to give up everything you love!

I know my clients all have different abilities in the kitchen, different tastes, and different commitment levels. My goal is to meet you, get to know you and your lifestyle, and help fit a health plan to that. After all, a plan that is followed 80% is better than no plan at all.

In addition to Birds & Bees, I am a Director of the “My Fertility Matters Project UK” – a fertility education program for pre-teens, which I am helping rollout in primary schools across the UK. I am an enthusiastic speaker on natural fertility, and have previously lectured at the London College of Natural Medicine. Contact me if you need assistance with any media or speaking opportunities.

Birds & Bees is currently operated out of gorgeous, private clinic rooms within Putney Pharmacy in Putney, South West London where I work alongside other qualified health professionals offering complementary services. We take a whole body approach to health, ensuring that issues are treated at the source and eliminated, instead of merely treating symptoms.

If you have been diagnosed with or suspect you may have a pre-existing medical condition you should consult your GP for advice, diagnosis and treatment and always inform your health professional before starting any alternative or additional therapies, treatments or making any major changes in your diet or exercise programme.
