About me
At S.H.I.P.S. Physio we help people who have had Stroke, Head Injury, Parkinsons, or Spinal injury. We teach you how to stand and walk again, to improve your walking, or how to regain the use of your hands and arms.
Our treatments are based mainly on the Bobath concept, which means we change the way we hold support and direct people to adapt the way they move. It means our treatments are very much " hands on "
We also use Chinese Acupuncture and Western Medical Acupuncture to help with pain relief and relaxation. Acupuncture affects people in a variety of ways so it can help recover movement also.
Because of our speciality, we work with people in their own homes, or community facilities, ranging from gym to forest cycle parks, swimming and hydrotherapy pools to climbing walls.
We teach health care workers and families on a range of subjects from understanding the symptoms and behaviours of their patients, to moving and handling.
Training, qualifications & experience
All our staff are Members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, or Associate members in the case of our assistants.
Our Physiotherapists have specialist experience in Neurology from a minimum of 15 years, up to 34 years.

Therapies offered
Other available therapies
If you have had a stroke or head injury or are helping someone who has, then we are here to help. Many people in this situation have been told or encouraged to think that they have got as far as they can. But therapy is constantly changing, so what may have once been true, might no longer apply. Ask us today. Call or send a message and we'll do our best to give you the most up to date advice available.
Fees
Our fees are based on £ 67 per hour for one therapist.
We may need to charge travel on top of this, according to your location, so please enquire.
You can call us now on 0800 9 020 191 free from your home or office, or you can call Andy MacKellar direct, on 07957 884 143.
