About me

I offer four practices for well-being: Alexander Technique (AT), Buteyko Method, Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) a branch of CBT, and Eye Movement Integration (EMI).

AT: When first exposed to the principles of the Alexander Technique, I quickly appreciated the range of application of the technique. In the first weeks of learning I applied them to my ordinary activities such as walking and cycling to college. I realised this was a new way of living-in-ease and resolved to train to become a teacher of this revolutionary technique.

Buteyko: Finding greater ease with breathing by using the Buteyko Method, I trained as a Buteyko teacher and now provide skills and knowledge to individuals.

Advanced REBT Therapist: Since 2011 I gained a Foundation Certificate in Person Centred Counselling. In December 2016 I qualified with an Advanced Diploma in CBT/REBT. This has shown me that we can continue to develop both heart and mind throughout life. We can become better at making life choices right for us. Short-term work involves 12-20 sessions of structured skills learning. I also offer reduced rates to those on lower incomes.

EMI Practitioner: Since 2015 I trained as an Eye Movement Integration practitioner. This is a neurotherapy that successfully integrates trauma in one or two sessions. Please see article.

Training, qualifications & experience

AT: Upon finishing my Alexander Technique training in 1987 (MSTAT) from the Haar school ATTC, South Devon, I moved to Bath and have remained in the area.

Buteyko: As well as bodywork with the Alexander Technique, I qualified in the Buteyko Method in 2006 (MBBA), training individuals from age 8 to 88!

Therapy Practitioner: In 2012 I obtained a Foundation Certificate in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling. I have been counselling since October 2012 (BACP Student Member Id731535). I have worked for the SWAN Project in Bristol for nearly three years, Turning near a year, and as an approved Anxiety UK Therapist nearly three years.

Since December 2015 and currently I work as Cognitive Behaviour Therapist and Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapist CBT/REBT in Private Practice and also for Arts of Change, Dudley working with children and adults.

EMI: I welcome clients at my practice to work with people who have had trauma in their life, for instance flashbacks from a fall or car incident, or other distressing experience.

Music: I have a background in music, obtaining a BA in music performance from the RSAMD in 1984. I play violin, viola, and double-bass on a semi-professional basis.
