About us

The physiotherapy and sports injury clinic is dedicated to helping you to overcome injuries and pain in sport, exercise and your daily life. Anyone can suffer an injury, we work top athletes and weekend warriors alike every step of the way to recover fully and help you to prevent recurring injuries. We provide a range of treatments and therapies to help you recover fully from your injury and also to help you in preventing it happening again.

All therapists are fully qualified and registered with either the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or the Society of Sports Therapists, each with their own special areas of interest and expertise. We treat a range of conditions, some of the more common include:

  • Back pain
  • Running injuries
  • Knee and ankle conditions
  • Rehab following ACL reconstruction and other surgeries
  • Muscle pulls and tears
  • Osgood Schlatters and other children’s conditions
  • Shin splints
  • Frozen shoulder and shoulder pain

Training, qualifications & experience

James Cato
Sports Therapist

  • BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy
  • BSc (Hons) Sports Science
  • FA Level 3 Treatment & Management of Injuries in Football
  • Level 1 UKSCA Strength & Conditioning

James has nearly 20 years of experience in the the sports, health and fitness industry, including elite basketball, rugby, football and medical referrals and is currently a consultant for a number of football clubs. He has been a qualified sports therapist since 2008 and set up the sports injury clinic at Long Lane FC with Sara Cato in 2010. His primary specialities are youth injuries, injury rehab and strength & conditioning.

Sara Munton
Physiotherapist

  • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
  • Manual Therapy for Complex Pain - incl Cranial Therapy
  • Advanced Level Practitioner and Spinal Specialist

Sara has been a chartered physiotherapist since 2005, mainly working in musculoskeletal, postural and sports injuries but also in community, neurology and orthopaedic roles. Sara is back and spinal specialist and has great experience with chronic and complex conditions.

Vlada Knese
Sports Therapist

  • BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy
  • Sports First Aid

As well as being a Sports Therapist, Vlada has a wealth of experience as a massage therapist. Previously a professional swimmer in Latvia, she has a great understanding of the needs of sportsmen and women when it comes to training, recovering from and preventing injuries.

Further information

The clinic is based in the impressive facilities at Long Lane FC. For those that need it as part of an exercise rehab programme, a complimentary membership of the gym is available to aid with their training. Following that, any patients that would like to continue using the facility can do so at the club members rate of just £15 per month.
