Social art group
'Art Space' is a social art group for adults of all abilities and none. It's a place to come and be creative in a safe, friendly group to promote relaxation, self-care and social connection.
Anyone 18+ is welcome to the group, and you don't have to be good at art to join us! You can work on anything you like, whether that is doodling, paint-by-numbers, playing with stamps and ink, or working on a free-hand acrylic painting. All kinds of arts and crafts are welcome too, so you may like to bring your knitting along or tear up some paper or magazines to make a collage.
Whilst we create, play and potter around, we also have some relaxing music playing and snacks and non-alcoholic drinks available to make a really lovely, relaxing atmosphere.
When?
The group runs every Friday, alternating between 11am-1pm and 6pm-8pm, to accommodate different working schedules. At the time of posting this event, the next group is set to run on Friday 30th August 2024 from 11am-1pm. Please check my website laurahughestherapies.co.uk for the latest dates of upcoming sessions.
Please get in touch to book your place as I'm afraid I cannot accept newcomers who turn up unannounced.
You can register your interest on the booking page on my website. Just look for 'sign-up sheet' under the information about Art Space.
Where?
The group is based at Amphlett House, Worcester Road, Droitwich, WR9 8AW. The room we use is upstairs so I appreciate it will unfortunately not be accessible for everyone.
Cost?
There are two payment options available: pay as you go and pay in advance. Pay as you go is £10 per session, which can be paid on the day. Pay in advance is £51 for 6 sessions (which works out at £8.50 per session, a 15% discount compared to pay as you go) - this covers any 6 sessions within a one year period.
How big is the group?
The group size is 8-10 people with no more than 15. As this is a new group we tend to have small numbers currently, as it takes time for a group to grow.
Are materials provided?
There is a range of materials provided such as pens, paper, mini canvasses, paints, ink and stamps, colouring books, and small craft activities. You are welcome to use the materials provided, but you are equally welcome to bring along your own materials/books to use if you prefer. Current group members do a bit of both.

You are very welcome to get in touch to find out more information and to book your place. You can register your interest on the 'sign-up sheet' which can be found on my website, or you can contact me directly.
Please note: this is not 'art therapy,' however, creative activities can have therapeutic benefits in their own way, as can social activities.
