How to utilise the power of crystals every day

It takes millions of years for crystals to form in the earth. Many believe that the way crystals are formed imbues them with ‘memories’ and allows them to contain, direct and focus energies.

If you’re new to the idea of ‘energy’ and how it affects us, let’s break it down. Everything on the planet is made up of energy and, through this energy, we are all connected. Those who work with energy and crystals believe crystals hold a special power and can affect our own energies.

There are hundreds of different types of crystals, all with their own colours, properties and energies. For example, amethyst is purple in colour and believed to help us connect with our intuition and encourage peaceful sleep. Some people have crystal healing sessions to help support their overall health and well-being.

If you have your first collection of crystals and aren’t quite sure what to do with them other than display them on your sideboard, don’t worry – we’ve got you. Here are some ways you can enjoy the power of crystals all day, every day.

When you wake up

When you wake up, consider what your day ahead looks like. What do you have planned? What do you think you could use a little energetic support with? Pick a crystal that best suits your needs (for example citrine to boost personal power at work) and sit quietly for a few minutes to set your intention.

You can say your intention out loud while holding the crystal or say it in your head. Once you have set your intention, put the crystal somewhere close by such as in your pocket or your bag.

While you’re at work

If you work on a computer all day, you might want to keep crystals on your desk. These can support your motivation, creativity and focus while absorbing any negative energy. Ideal crystals to keep by your computer include clear quartz which aids clarity and Carnelian which encourages creativity.

When you’re socialising

When you’re out and about with friends, having a crystal or two nearby can help aid communication and confidence. Tigers eye can support confidence and blue topaz can help with communication. Keep them close by or wear them as jewellery.

When you’re winding down

Crystals are really helpful tools to use in your wind-down routine. Whether you practice yoga, meditate or read to relax, try keeping crystals near you. Amethyst, blue lace agate and blue chalcedony all help to ease stress and tension.

At bedtime

If you struggle to switch off at night or have insomnia, tucking a crystal under your pillow or placing one on your nightstand can support relaxation and sleep. Crystals that can help here include amethyst, clear quartz and selenite.
