We all know we need to exercise our muscles to keep our body toned and healthy – but what about our face? To keep that youthful, surely all we can do is have surgery or use botox, right?
Not according to Danielle Collins, face yoga expert. Danielle has created a 20-minute routine, which she recommends doing six times a week to give “safe anti-ageing results – a natural facelift”.
The 18 exercises in the routine utilises a combination of acupressure, yoga and massage elements. Danielle states that this routine can help reduce lines and wrinkles, firm up your jaw line and improve skin tone. On top of this, it should help to reduce tension headaches and eye strain.
The 57 muscles in your face need to be exercised regularly according to Danielle, “As they become stronger they are lifted and firmed and the skin attached to the muscles is tautened, reducing lines and wrinkles.”
The massage moves included in the routine help to increase circulation, removes toxins and improves skin tone – which results in less puffiness and dark circles.
The routine also includes acupressure – an age-old technique that involves pressing on points of the body to increase the flow of energy, or prana as yogis would call it. Simply learning to relax the face will go a long way to help reduce those wrinkles caused from stress and grimacing.
Just taking the time to relax can be beneficial, “What happens on the inside, radiates on the outside,” Danielle explains.
While there are no rules to this routine Danielle recommends doing it the same time and place in a quiet, relaxed environment. Drinking plenty of water afterwards will help the body to flush out the toxins and hydrate your skin. For more information, please see Danielle’s website.
