My name is Ross and in many ways I’m not your average twenty something male. Having a mother who is a complementary therapist, yoga teacher and all-round holistic enthusiast has left me with a breadth of knowledge on the subject. I am also part of the team here at Therapy Directory and will be writing a regular blog drawing on my experiences, discussing the latest health news and providing you with some useful tips along the way.
For the last fifteen years, my brother and I have been guinea pigs for many a treatment in our family home, as our mum was expanding her knowledge of complementary therapies. I’ve had treatments in reflexology (interesting experience if you’re ticklish), massage therapy, craniosacral therapy, reiki, crystal therapy and kinesiology. I also have my chakras balanced on a regular basis.
As a child I was very sceptical of all these things and more. I used to tease my mum for doing yoga in the living room and ‘hugging trees’. I also used to find the sounds coming from the treatment room highly amusing when she was meditating.
However, now I’m older (and marginally wiser), I have developed an understanding and appreciation for many complementary therapies, which I now know from my own personal experiences to be extremely helpful for a variety of health issues.
For this reason, I rarely need to pay a visit to my GP because I find that complementary therapy fulfils most of my needs independently (not that I would advise you to do the same!).
I very much hope you enjoy my musings and experiences throughout the year and I wish you a happy, fulfilling and healthy 2013.
