Recently, a huge body of scientific research has indicated that regular meditation can help to reduce the incidence of stroke, heart attack and early mortality, with a further study showing that eight weeks worth of TM helped to significantly reduce post-traumatic stress symptoms in Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans.
In light of these positive results many individuals are now taking up TM, with some US schools even choosing to teach it to their pupils, after which a drop in the number of fights and suspensions was recorded as well as improved exam results and an increase in attendance.
The Maharishi School in Ormskirk Lancashire has followed suit, teaching the technique to it’s pupils and receiving glowing reports from Ofsted for outstanding results.
It is thought that an estimated four million individuals around the globe now practice the TM every day, from celebrities such as Clint Eastwood and David Lynch (who set up an organisation to teach TM to school children), through to convicted prisoners and soldiers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
