World renowned psychiatrist promotes meditation
Top psychiatrist Norman E. Rosenthal, M.D. has promoted the use of meditation for healing and transformation in his new book.
Dr. Rosenthal is a celebrated author and professor who has spent decades conducting medical research as well as famously pioneering the study and treatment of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
Recently the psychiatrist has turned his efforts towards the Transcendental Meditation technique, on which he has published the book “Transcendence: Healing and Transformation Through Transcendental Meditation.”
The book explores the scientific documentation of healing and transformation through Transcendental Meditation, and also features interviews with various household name meditators including Sir Paul McCartney, Russell Brand, David Lynch and Martin Scorsese, all of whom share their life-changing experiences with the reader.
Dr. Rosenthal first learned meditation whilst he was a medical student in South Africa during the 1970s, and though he went for many years without practising, a patient who had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder sung it such high praises for making him a happier person that Rosenthal set out to rediscover the technique.
After experiencing positive results himself Rosenthal began recommending the technique to patients and has been especially impressed by recent studies showing its effectiveness in reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke.
