The Mindful Manifesto is a new book which helps the stressed out soul improve their mental well being.
Listed below are a few great tips taken from the book which will help to guide you through the ups and downs of everyday life:
Eat with your mind – Be sensible about what you eat by paying attention to what you think your body needs. If you tend to comfort eat then try keeping a note of how you use food in distressing or negative situations. A simple exercise featured in the book is to take yourself somewhere quiet with a piece of fruit, for example an apple and move it around in your hands, feeling the weight shifting whilst picturing the apples growth process. Try to eat at least one meal a week like this even if you only do it for a few mouthfuls.
Get your mental five a day – In order to ensure you are getting your mental five a day try to ensure that each day you are connecting, learning, exercising, giving and noticing.
Face difficult emotions – Instead of distracting ourselves from something which is causing us distress or unease it is important that we face these feelings head on. Try taking some deep breaths if you are really apprehensive about doing this and whilst you are inhaling try to imagine the air you breathing in is allowing you to feel your emotions.
