There have been a number of studies which have revealed the health benefits of Tai chi, with many finding it helps to lower cholesterol, improve cardiovascular and respiratory function, reduce the symptoms of Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and can help to reduce the severity of diabetes.
A recent study has revealed that the repetitive and slow movements of tai chi can be extremely beneficial in reducing the pain of fibromyalgia, a chronic disorder which see’s extensive muscle pain and fatigue which lasts for around three months.
Leader of the study, Dr. Chenchen Wang has said: ”Aside from reductions in pain, patients in the tai chi group reported improvements in mood, quality of life, sleep, self-efficacy and exercise capacity. They feel better. People said it changed their life. Only two or three feel it didn’t help.”
