One of the reasons aromatherapy is thought to be so effective is down to the fact our brain can register aromas twice as quickly as it can pain and is able to go straight to our nervous system.
If you are feeling stressed and you need a pick me up then Aromatherapy is an extremely relaxing and enjoyable experience that can be tried at home or through a professional.
If you would like to try aromatherapy for stress at home then a good starting point is to purchase a bottle of lavender, geranium, basil or rose essential oils from a health food shop. To help you unwind try popping around 7 drops(4 for children and elderly) in your bath water after it has finished running. Alternatively another lovely tip is to make a hot compress by soaking a hand towel or flannel in warm water with a few drops of essential oil and apply this to the back of the neck for relaxation.
If you often find yourself becoming stressed at work or when out and about then you can also keep an essential oil in your bag and when stressed simply apply a few drops to a cotton ball and inhale deeply.
