Easy ways to improve your posture
Good posture will not only make you look taller and slimmer, it will benefit your health too.
Improving your posture is one of the most underrated ways to change your appearance, and in time, your health. Standing and sitting up straight allows your lungs more room to expand, helping you get more oxygen which in turn makes you feel more awake and alert.
By maintaining good posture you will be keeping your back nice and strong - reducing your risk of back pain and injury. Staying active and being mindful of your posture will convince your body that it's younger than its years. Take a look at our tips for improving your posture:
Stand up
Chances are, as you're reading this, you are sat down. Are you slouching because you are feeling tired? Perk yourself up by standing up for a bit. Your blood vessels tend to constrict when you are inactive, making you feel tired. Standing up will reinvigorate you instantly. Keep your posture in mind as you stand and notice the difference between standing tall and slouching in a chair.
Increase your activity levels
If you found that standing break brightened you up, imagine how great you would feel after 30 minutes of activity? Including more physical activity in your day (especially one that focuses on posture) will do wonders for your energy levels as well as helping you stay healthy. Try activities such as yoga and tai chi to tackle activity and posture in one hit.
Strengthen your core
Your core is your body's powerhouse and it is the key to maintaining good posture. Take time to strengthen and tone core muscles with planks, sit-ups and other exercises.
There are many different types of therapies available that can improve posture, including Yoga and the Alexander Technique.
