The Bowen Technique, or Bowen Therapy, is a type of hands-on therapy focussed on locating excess tension in the body with a view to removing it and so restore optimum balance. This is done by careful assessment of the current physical state, followed by series of moves exerted on soft tissues like muscles, ligaments, tendons etc.
Many people having tried Bowen have experienced the relaxing effect of the treatment, as well as the gradual disappearance of pains and aches, often the consequence of tissues being stuck in an over-taut state of tension.
Bowen is also an excellent therapy when it comes to accelerating the recovery of sports injuries: immediate treatment will ensure the body is switched to repair mode at once as well as focus those repairs to the needed area.
In terms of prevention, regular Bowen treatments will ensure that any tension picked up in between sessions is nullified, thus allowing tissues to return to an optimum, relaxed state before they become over-taut or inflexible, the cause of many over-stretched or even torn tissues.
Training, qualifications & experience
Soaz completed her initial Bowen Technique training in December 2011 under the supervision of Julian Baker, Director of the European College of Bowen Studies (E.C.B.S).
She then was very successful in securing places on courses with world-wide recognised Bowen practitioners like Howard Plummer (Fascia Bowen), Alastair McLoughlin (The Art of Bowen), Gene Dobkin (Bowen Bridge) and most recently Graham Pennington (The Importance of Symmetry & Targeting Primary Dysfunction) with a view to develop a broader understanding of the Bowen Technique.
Soaz experienced the powerful effects of Bowen herself when she was forced to stop her professional dancing career due to persistent and worsening injuries; like many athletes, she underwent a range of well established physical therapies which brought on limited and short-lived results, before eventually stumbling onto Bowen and see all her physical issues being resolved.
Having practised Bowen with clients ranging from babies to frail elderlies and presenting with many diverse problems - be them arthritic pains, stress, anxiety, repetitive strain injuries, sports injuries, digestive problems, motor-neurone diseases, back ache etc., Soaz is now fully committed to helping sports people manage injuries in an efficient way, with a view to allow a prompter return to the practice of their sport.
She will, naturally, readily treat all members of the public who seek her help and expert use of the Bowen Technique.
