What is Physiotherapy?

Can Physiotherapy help me?
Physiotherapy can be used to help people of all ages and backgrounds who have physical problems caused by illness, injury or ageing. At Shirley Physiotherapy Clinic we specialise in treating musculo-skeletal disorders or muscle, joint and ligament problems including back and neck pain, sciatica, work-related disorders, postural aches and pain, shoulder problems, hip and knee pains, sprains and strains, repetitive strain injuries, sports injuries and post-orthopaedic rehabilitation.
What treatments are offered?
Treatments that may be used include manual therapy, individually tailored home exercise programmes, acupuncture, ergonomic and postural advice, electrotherapy, e.g. ultrasound, interferential and self-management advice.
Training, qualifications & experience
Dr Ivy Man is the owner and practice principal of Shirley Physiotherapy Clinic. She qualified as a physiotherapist from King's College, London in 1996 and has worked in various NHS and private practice settings in the UK.
She has completed a PhD in physiotherapy in 2003 and has also undertaken further post-graduate training in Beijing, China in acupuncture for pain management in 2008. As a mandatory requirement to practice physiotherapy, Ivy keeps an up-to-date portfolio of her continued professional development which ensures her practice is evidence-based and that she keeps abreast of the latest clinical guidelines.
Ivy is a member of the Health Professions Council (HPC), The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) and PhysioFirst.
Initial assessment including treatment/advice as indicated (up to 60 minutes) £45
Standard follow-up session (30 minutes) £35
Extended follow-up session (45 minutes) £40
Full body MOT (up to 75 minutes) £65
Home visit from £65 (dependent upon travel time and session duration)
Appointments can typically be offered within 24 working hours of initial enquiry which means getting you back onto the road to recovery sooner. There is ample parking and a comfortable waiting room and wash room facilities at the clinic.
