Sarah McGrail Grad Dip Phys MCSP MSMA Chartered Physiotherapist
Sarah qualified in 1984 and after gaining experience in the NHS, soon found that her own experiences in rowing drew her to the specialist interests of sports medicine.
She was the physiotherapist for Rotherham Rugby Club before her move to Lancashire in 1988 where she initially continued her involvement in sport as the physiotherapist for Great Harwood Hockey Club and as a consulting physiotherapist to Sedgley Park Rugby Club.
Sarah established the Rossendale Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Clinic in 1989, moving to the current premises in 2010 and expanding her practise in the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal conditions.
She has maintained her close links with sport and over the years numerous athletes and teams have benefited from Sarah’s skills, from international Olympic competitors to members of local youth teams covering a diverse range of sports. She was the Senior Governing Body Physiotherapist for the British Handball Association from 1991 to 2007, working with the Great Britain, England and Scotland handball teams in training and competition both at home and abroad. Our physiotherapists are registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and our clinic is registered with all major insurance companies including Bupa.
Patients may refer themselves to the clinic or may be referred by a doctor, solicitor, occupational health department or other allied health care professionals.
This practice ensures that patients receive prompt and effective treatment which is conducted in a professional manner and takes full account of their needs, lifestyle and expectations.
We believe that each patient is unique and will therefore require an individually tailored programme of treatment. The treatment you receive will be based upon the findings from the initial assessment by the physiotherapist, taken together with the results of any medical tests you may have undergone (e.g. X-Rays or MRI scans), and referral reports from doctors or other healthcare professionals. There are many different types and combinations of treatment and patients may not receive the same treatment on each visit.
Your medical practitioner will be informed of your attendance and progress unless you request otherwise.
If you have been diagnosed with or suspect you may have a pre-existing medical condition you should consult your GP for advice, diagnosis and treatment and always inform your health professional before starting any alternative or additional therapies, treatments or making any major changes in your diet or exercise programme.
