As an osteopath - I treat all ages from new born babies to the elderly, office workers to professional sports people.
I am registered with the General Osteopathic Council and a member of the Institute of Osteopathy.
I have 13 years experience and I am the principle practitioner at Bucks Osteopathy with clinics in Amersham, Chesham, Beaconsfield, Hazlemere and a newly opened clinic in Gerrards Cross.
The techniques I use are based on current medical research gained from regularly updating my learning by attending post graduate courses, regional osteopathic meetings and study groups (I have completed 15 days of courses in the last year alone!).
Although the majority of my work centres around treatment of back, neck, hip, knee, ankle, shoulder pain, headaches and sports injuries, my area of special interest lies in the treatment of sciatica or "trapped nerves" leading to leg or arm pain. I have done extensive training with the Barral Institute using the very latest research based techniques. This a very gentle approach working fascia (the body's connective tissue) which patients have found to be effective.
My second area of interest is in pregnancy and post natal conditions as well as using cranial osteopathy for both adults and babies/children using cranial osteopathy. Again I have trained for 18 months with the National Childbirth Trust and attended paediatrics courses. I also practice acupuncture which can be a gentle and quick way of reducing pain as well as sports taping and Pilates based exercises for rehabilitation.
I aim to provide a professional service within a safe and caring environment and keep the patient at the centre of what I do. I want people to know that I have their best interests at heart and aim to treat everyone I see with patience, understanding and empathy. When you walk out of the doors we want you to feel relief from any discomfort you had, encouraged, genuinely cared for and most importantly inspired to take responsibility for your own well-being.
People will regularly come and see me for relief from back, neck and joint pain, sports injury, postural problems, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder, headaches and much more. So don't put up with that pain or discomfort.
I use a variety of gentle treatments according to the needs of the patient including:
* Pilates based exercise, Theraband, Swiss Balls
* Postural & nutritional advice
* Acupuncture – Western and Traditional Chinese
* Mobilisations and joint manipulations
* Soft tissue massage and stretching
* Gentle fascial (connective tissue) techniques
* Ultra sound and other electrotherapy
* Variety of taping methods – myofascial, sports, McConnell
I tailor a treatment plan for a patient’s body and lifestyle - focusing not just on the cause of the pain, but also any maintaining factors (diet, poor posture, balance etc) that could cause the symptoms to linger. This involves the patient at all stages in their own treatment, thereby reducing the number of treatments required.
