Pure Calm Massage
33A High Street
Hello and thank you for viewing my profile.
I am Jackie, a massage therapist working from home in Robertsbridge and also at Infinite Beauty UK in Heathfield.
I offer all my clients a highly personalised massage service, based on their individual needs.
Following an initial consultation when will chat so that I can establish the best way to treat you (for which you need to allow an extra 15 minutes at your first appointment), I will use a fusion of different techniques to ensure that you leave me feeling happy with the therapy you have received. The client consultation is entirely confidential and is free of charge.
Techniques I am qualified to use include the following:
Swedish massage techniques
Deep tissue massage
Hot and cold stone therapy
Myofascial release techniques
Trigger point therapy (where clients are hoping to resolve a chronic pain issue).
When treating pain, I do not believe in 'no pain no gain' and my aim is always that you leave me feeling relaxed.
Training, qualifications & experience
- Foundation Certificate in Advanced Clinical Massage (Jing Institute). I am at present completing my full qualification in Advanced Clinical Massage and will complete that training in August 2017.
- Deep Tissue Massage Techniques (Wilbury School of Massage, Brighton)
- Certificate in Hot and Cold Stone Massage (FHT, at Brighton Holistics)
- Level 3 ITEC Diploma in Body Massage - passed with Distinction
- ITEC level 3 Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies - passed with Distinction
- Emergency First Aid at Work (FHT accredited short course, first aid for therapists - Innamincka Training Services)
Massage is my second career and, since first qualifying, I have gained many hours of practical experience working as a massage therapist and, additionally, I have sought consistently to improve my practice by attending the very best training available in the UK, most notably at the internationally renowned Jing Institute of Advanced Massage Training, where I am currently studying to complete my full ACMT qualification.
I want to ensure that all my clients benefit from the very best massage experience possible. This is very important to me.

*For many clients, clinical or remedial massage is a more comfortable alternative to sports massage and may be effective in relieving acute and sporting injuries, as well as longer-term, chronic pain. I use myofascial release and trigger point techniques to specifically target problem areas.

A one-off massage is a lovely thing and if you want some me-time, nothing is better! It is said that an hour on a massage couch is as restorative as eight hours in bed and here at Pure Calm Massage I take pride in the fact that virtually all my clients end up asleep, for this is a sign that they are truly relaxed.
For outcome-based therapies, whose aim is to reduce pain or stress, I recommend a series of three to six therapies in order to achieve the best results for you.
If you are coming to see me because you suffer from stress or anxiety, you may begin to feel better after the first therapy. My clients tell me after a massage at Pure Calm that they sleep better than usual. This is because massage releases serotonin, a neurotransmitter that makes you feel calm. However, to feel a reduction in stress or anxiety in the longer term, regular massages are recommended.
NICE guidelines make recommendations on a wide range of topics, including preventing and managing specific conditions. They recommend 'manual therapy (spinal manipulation, mobilisation or soft tissue techniques such as massage)' for the management of low back pain, with or without sciatica. If you are coming to see me because you are in pain, a weekly massage for three weeks is what I propose. Following that, regular 'maintenance' treatments are recommended to build on the benefits you may hopefully be experiencing by then. Realistically, a course of six treatments is the most effective way to reap all the possible benefits.
I am very happy to chat with you without any obligation if you would like to find out more about how I work and how I may be able to help you.
If you have been diagnosed with or suspect you may have a pre-existing medical condition you should consult your GP for advice, diagnosis and treatment and always inform your health professional before starting any alternative or additional therapies, treatments or making any major changes in your diet or exercise programme.
