I specialise in back and joint pain, sports injuries and performance enhancement.
Typically clients present with back, neck, pelvic or other joint pain. Often there is decreased mobility and pain is adversely affecting their life.
My aim is to identify areas of soft tissue restriction, tenderness and/or inflammation, as well as to assess any asymmetry caused by an imbalance of muscle tension between the front and back of the body or the right and left sides. Releasing these tensions will allow the body to restore a more comfortable balanced posture and so alleviate pain.
Even with a diagnosis of wear and tear on the boney structures, much of the pain comes from the soft tissue surrounding the joint and releasing tightness can help with pain.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have been practising The Bowen Technique since 2004 when I qualified with The Bowen Academy UK. In order to continually update my assessment and treatment skills I have done numerous courses post qualification with Bowtech UK and with other instructors.
Most recently with UK instructor, Alastair McLoughlin - Art of Bowen workshop.
With Australian instructors, Ron Phelan - The Essential Temporomandible Joint
John Garfield - Pelvic and Lumbar Spine Workshop. Upper Torso and Neck Workshop
Graham Pennington - The Importance of Symmetry.
These courses have broadened my knowledge and given me a much deeper understanding. My ability to identify the real source of the problem in the body has improved tremendously, making treatments much more specific to the individual client. It also has resulted in the client needing less treatments.
