About me

Liz began having Alexander technique lessons in 2007 and quickly became fascinated by the ideas and the effect it had on her both mentally and physically.Since then she has studied with various teachers and her fascination with the work grew until she enrolled on the ITM teacher training course to become a certified teacher.

Liz is passionate about sharing the joy and the benefit of studying and practising this work. As well as teaching locally Liz also teach at the annual ITM summer schools in Cork and Cirencester. She is fully qualified, publicly insured, CNHC registered and a member of the ITM Teacher’s Association.

Liz continues to inform her teaching by attending professional courses regularly. Lessons in the Alexander technique are a unique opportunity to explore the way you move and the way you think about your movement. Using activities that interest you, we discuss the principles that form the foundation of Alexander’s work and how these principles can be applied practically to help you move more efficiently and effectively.

Students often begin with everyday activities like sitting, walking, speaking, or sitting at a computer. It’s also useful to work on activities you are skilled in like singing, martial arts, dancing, public speaking or playing an instrument. Learning about the Alexander technique in a group can be great fun and can have the effect of accelerating learning, as you can learn a great deal observing others have lessons.

If you are new to the Alexander technique then a great place to begin is with an introductory session. This is usually a hour long session where we can discuss some of the key ideas in the Alexander technique and you can experience some hands on work.

If you are a returning student or would like to continue after an introductory then I encourage you to sign up for a course of 6 lessons.

Group or one to one?

There are a number of ways you can learn the Alexander Technique. You can have lessons on your own, if you want your time to explore specific activities in depth, or maybe you are not a “group” person!

On the other hand, group work can be something as simple as sharing a session with one other person, perhaps a friend or partner. Alternatively, you can sign up for a short course, which you would share with no more than 5 other people. Learning about the Alexander technique in a group can be great fun and can have the effect of accelerating learning, as you can learn a great deal observing others have lessons.

It’s up to you and you always have the option of trying both out!
