About me

Welcome to The Acupuncture Clinic, Torbay, Devon. (

The Clinic is run in Torbay by me, Mr Kim Maidment. I am degree qualified and I trained at The College of Integrated Chinese medicine in Reading initially for three years from 1993 when a gained a Licentiate in Acupuncture I later went back in 2007 and converted this to a Bsc (Hons) degree. I have been in practice for seventeen years, constantly updating my skills. I am a member of the Complementary Medical Association (CMA). They monitor my training and regulate my activities.

I'm lucky as I have many happy Patients who come to me when they feel unwell, I also have some who come on a regular basis so that they keep feeling well. With many first-time Patients I am their last resort as they have often tried other medical means before they come to me, this is because people are often scared of needles. When they have been for the first time they wonder what all the fuss was about? I am trained in many types of Acupuncture so can treat the majority of people, there are not many conditions I haven't seen but I like it when people surprise me! Please follow this link to see which conditions can be treated by Chinese Acupuncture according to World Health Organisation research;
as you can see from this list, many conditions can be treated, if you are not sure, please 'phone me. You can come in for a free chat if you wish.

I went to Philadelphia and studied Mei Zen COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE under Dr Martha Lucas, so if any one wants their face 'freshened up' please talk to me! There are also protocols for the tummy and I have designed one for the buttocks! (this can help cellulite).

I am also one of the worlds leading experts on DENTAL ACUPUNCTURE although the Dentist I worked with retired and I would like to work with another Dentist. I don't have injections when I have a filling, I anesthetize myself! I worked with the British Dental Acupuncture Society who are practitioners of Medical Acupuncture to help develop their protocols and have been to their annual conference to lecture.

Problems with fertility? At Least five of my Patients now have children after my fertility treatment.

If you have a problem you wish to discuss please telephone me, you can either talk about it on the 'phone or come in for a free chat.
Thank you - Kim.

Training, qualifications & experience

Licentiate in Acupuncture from The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine 1995.

Bsc (Hons) degree in Acupuncture 2007.

I have been in practice since 1995 in PAIGNTON and to start with in Reading at the college Clinic.

In 2005 I went to Philadelphia and studied Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture with Dr Martha Lucas.
I have studied many types of Acupuncture including,

Cosmetic Acupuncture,
Dental Acupuncture,
Five Element Acupuncture,
TCM Acupuncture,
Trigger Point or 'Dry Needling' Acupuncture,
Scalp Acupuncture and

I am also trained in;
Bio-Magnetic Therapy,
Chinese Patent Herbal Medicine,
Therapeutic Massage,
Tuina (Chinese Acupressure Massage),
Cupping, and
and on a personal level TaiChi and Self Hypnosis.
I am constantly updating my skills because as a member of the Complementary Medical Association I have to comply with their Continuous Professional Development regulations.

The CMA were the first organisation to regulate Acupuncturists in this way, in fact all of their Therapists have to comply with this. Because I have studied so many therapies I often act intuitively applying each type of Acupuncture/Therapy as needed.

I am suitable for disabled people as my Clinic is on the ground floor.
