About me

I offer Shiatsu Massage Touching Presence.

  • Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese bodywork which stimulates the body's natural healing ability by applying gentle pressure to points across the body. Shiatsu is a profoundly relaxing and enlivening experience. I aim to meet the client where they are accept and welcome what is arising on the physical, mental and emotional levels which will support you on your journey to full health,
  • Not only does Shiatsu relieve muscle tension and aid joint mobility, promote deep relaxation which can improve your mood, and aid your sleep; it meets you on a deeper level.
  • Presence is a description of how we can be connected to a sense of our deeper essential self and be more present in our life experience.
  • Touching is both what I do with my hands but what your inner self feels. We say we feel touched by what someone says or does or a lovely view. Our essential nature is a feeling presence and this is what inspires me and what I hope to inspire in others in my sessions.

It is essential that you give Shiatsu a chance to work through your body so a series of 6 regular sessions are advisable to book then you can fully benefit from the changes it will inevitably bring.

What to expect in a session.

Shiatsu takes place on a padded mat or futon at floor level although it is possible to receive it sitting on a chair if you are unable to lie down. The client stays fully clothed.

Each session lasts approximately 1 hour. I will ask questions and together we will inquire into your state of health, the symptoms you are experiencing. I will then adapt the session to your needs according to the principles of Oriental Medicine. This may include gentle holding, pressing with palms, thumbs, fingers, elbows, knees and feet on the meridians and when appropriate, more dynamic rotations and stretches.

Guidelines for receiving Shiatsu

Please bring or wear loose, warm, comfortable clothing, preferably cotton e.g. sweatshirt, tracksuit trousers and socks.

It is advised not to eat heavily in the two hour prior to treatment.

After treatment drink plenty of water to smooth the flow of changes through the system.

If at all possible avoid strenuous or stressful activities after your session.

Training, qualifications & experience

My qualifications are: BA Hons in Fine Art Sculpture; Cert Ed post 16; DipShi MRSS; Body Mind Attunement (Rhythmic Healing)

I qualified as a Shiatsu Therapist in 2010 and have been working in Ashburton and now Exeter.

I have had 25 years experience in Meditation and self inquiry and bring this experience to my work. I trained as a sculptor and studied for many years a movement practice that involved art and spiritual connection travelling to Java.

This led me to study the Healing arts.

I also run Retreats and workshops in Presence Art and Healing Movement

I am grateful to my teachers and all who have worked with me.

Fees

For Shiatsu I charge £45 for an hour; £55 for 90 minutes
If you book 6 one hour sessions in advance it will cost £230 giving you a saving of £40!!

Some concessions are available upon request.
