Yoga therapy is a valuable tool in helping overcome many issues caused by modern living including stress, anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, eating disorders, infertility and many other disorders that may originate in the mind. Issues in the body can also be helped with yoga therapy and acute and chronic pain can be relieved and many other ailments can be helped including mobility including back pain, respiratory, circulatory, digestive and reproductive issues.
The key principle of yoga therapy is to treat the whole person with a focus on alleviating symptoms and in many cases eradicating the cause. A yoga practice is established and will be of a duration that you can commit to undertaking as a regular home practice. The practice will be devised so that it meets you where you are and goals will be set which are realistic and achievable within a defined duration of time. The practice will focus on the needs of your physical, energetic, mental and emotional self. During the subsequent session(s), the practice will be refined and improved and goals will be assessed and redefined where necessary. Always focusing on what you, the client sees as the priority although discussions in the sessions and the initial breath and movement review may identity other issues so goals are set jointly with client and therapist supporting each other to achieve the best outcome.
The session is structured into 3 distinct parts;
Initial assessment/follow up discussion
Personal yoga practice
Deep restorative yoga, inducing calm and promoting healing in both mind and body
A minimum course of 3 treatments is recommended over a 3-6 week period.
